Well, its been a while since i've been down to training after having an abcess cut out of my back and being barely able to walk for a month.
Last night i got down to find 17 blokes at training (really, that is massive for the jets) and a lot of new faces.
What impressed me the most was that they were all young kids, from 16 through to 20 for the majority. Now its not that i'm particularly old, being 24, but there is a big difference in those 7 or 8 years and the effects of footy (and beer)
The team trained for over two hours and really put in hard. Blokes got to meet each other and really had fun and I think this could be a special season for the boys.
I don't think we are going to win the comp, and we probably won't make the semis for we just don't have the physical size. What we do have is a side that will play Reserve grade and play it respectably. i think we can run mid table, and cause a few upsets along the way and most importantly FINISH the season.
it was a pleasant change because for much of the last few months there were worries there would be no team. Our first trial is on the 20th and the first round the week after. here's to 100 years of Jets and another season for the juniors!
