Our team for match against the Raiders next Monday

1. Merrit
2. Talanoa
3. Vagana
4. Champion
5. Hegarty
6. Widders
7. Luke
8. Manoukafoa
9. Ndaira
10. Asotasi
11. Kidwell
12. Faalogo
13. Sutton

14. Faloon
15. Mcpherson
16. Stuart
17. pettyborn

great to see pettyborn retaining his spot. a start of the future for sure. for the first time this year i'm comfortable with our back line. lacks some speed, but experienced enough to handle raiders outside men. our forward pack looks very impressive. and greenfield is back in a couple of weeks. hard to push someone out, but he will be vital to the rest of our season. i'm optimistic, but not getting ahead of myself. the raiders are a different outfit at home, and our boys need to bring it to win.

UP THE RABBITOHS!!!!

yep. hegs has really come good this year. you have to think, he is only 28, and still has some good years in him if he can continue his recent form. i'd like to see him cross the strip a bit more often though. but im sure thats coming

I like the look of this squad. With the exception of Greenfield and Wing I think this is our strongest team.Looking for big game from Tools. With him and Heggs on the flanks,we should have some real thrust from kick returns. Also I think Frog has been going through the motions and really does need to step up to the plate this Monday.

You are spot on Newc, we are almost full strength, Greenfield named for the Bears this week (for match fitness i guess). I hope Fetuli has been given the wake up call he needed and shows his 2007 form, Heggs to pick up where he left off before injury and Frog to be hitting his straps with a couple runs under his belt after a long lay off. Raiders at home are always a tough ask but if we are to salvage anything from our season we need a good convincing win and then with the return of Wing you just never know where a bit of momentum and confidence can take us.

Raiders might be better at home, but without Lincoln Withers I think they are infinitely beatable, especially with the Bunnies fielding a very slick team.

If Souths want to reclaim genuine respect and shake the "wooden spoon" favouratism, they have to beat the Raiders.

I'll have to be honest here, its not so much the selections that have worried me this year but the lethargy, lack of application, mistakes and poor decision-making.

JT may as well have been giving a lamp post a pep talk for most of the year.

The big feature of our game v cows was the way the lads were moving up in attack, they were frisky and fugging willing. Our staunch forwards smashed into the cows with vigour and power. It was like nothing Ive seen all year.

And thats the challenge for JT. He has to switch the boys "on" again.

JT has an analytical mind. He's had two weeks to be asking himself these questions "What did I do last week that I didnt do previously that got the boys motivated?" and "How can I do it again?"

JT has said for the record that motivating the players is one of his most important tasks. He takes this aspect of coaching, very, very seriously.

There were some games last year when the opposing sides were virtually on our try-line with a few tackles left and we were playing so well I caught myself thinking

"Well thats fascinating, but our defence is so good, hurry up and give us the ball back because your attack isnt going to make any impression"

And we are nowhere near that now but I am seeing some glimpses of quite strong defensive efforts (mixed in with some poor ones!).

Hegs has his job to do. In case anyone's missed it, he's essentially another forward and the chances of any frightening attacking play down his wing are as remote as John Howard being elected the boss of the wharfies union.

His job is to make 200 metres a game and not drop the ball. Prior to his injury, he was doing his job better than any player we had out there and better than his opposition winger.

In some ways, its now much more important for Luke and George to possess the explosiveness previously reserved for our slick back line. They are our new slick backs.

With the exception of one or two players, we are as slow as a cement truck, but thats Ok so long as we are elusive, quick off the mark, can offload and throw sweet passes.

I think Beau is enjoying Vags out there at the moment, they dont quite have a combination going yet, but when they do try to mix it up a bit, they could be anything.

All the signals are good for this weekend, lets just hope we are "on" mentally.

Lets rip in, because when we do, it might be ugly, but I think when push comes to shove, everyone on board, we can beat any team in this comp.

JT seemed to do a remarkable job motivating the Eels in his half year there, not to mention the Bunnies last year. I don't know what flattened out the team so badly in the opening rounds, except to guess that they thought it would be easier this year with Wing and the extra experience, but injury set backs and tighter policing of the "wrestle" caught them by surprise. Shrug.

Hegs has been good in the games he has played this year, but defensively he runs out of the line (without getting the result of shutting down the play or snagging the intercept he seems to be looking for) too often for my liking, gifting the opposition an easy overlap if they beat him. In attack he can run sideways too often.

This year, however, he has been solid and even my wife ("I love all Bunnies, but hate Hegarty!") has let up on him. His return to the side this weekend is a big bonus, whereas in the past any team with his name in it illicited groans.

I hope he has a blinder.

i cant believe the injury crippled raiders are $1.55 favourites!!! i'm not much of a punter, and usually wouldnt pay too much attention, but this seems ludacrous. on paper we will win this game... but i guess form is more important then that. but over the last few weeks we've seen signs of life, and i think the boys are about to get it together. a convincing win this week will be some retribution for the disasterous 6 weeks preceding it

I was devastated last year when the raiders beat us in a close one down there on a Monday night last year.

We have to play good hard strong footy and not play to their level. We have a tendency to play as bad against not so good teams (or anyone lately). So play hard boys and don't take the foot off the accelerator!

Last year, the Raiders beat the Bunnies in Sydney, not here in Canberra. It made that loss a lot more disappointing.

That said, I agree with Aaron. The Bunnies are definitely worth a punt at these odds. It's not like the Faders have been going that well either. They haven't won for over a month and have only recorded wins over Panthers, Dragons and Tigers so far this year.

Bears win 52-12, Buddy and Greenfield both MIA, possibly some changes to Monday Night's Line Up with Mcpherson under a cloud.
Greeny >Roy
Roy may miss the game due to his concussion from the test.
Gordon>Hegs
Hegs pulled up lame at training

Hopefully Roy will play

This game has added spice for me now. I had a Multi on Friday night and so far am 5 / 5. If Souths win tonight I stand to claim $150 odd dollars. If the damned Titans had beat the Start (-6.5 and they won by 4!) I'd have had Pick the Winners riding on this game as well and I had that x10!
Can't believe they are $2.50 outsiders. If they turn up with their heads in the right place, they should win this comfortably. The Raiders have been trash for the last few weeks. Tongue out of Dummy half should be a plus for us as well as they will have no go forward from Dummy Half.

yeah all we need to do is bring our attitude to win this one, if we can get a big win up the cowboys will have last place on percentages

Agree DKOR Tounge at Dummy half isnt as effective as Luke and Ndaria.

Like Rabs said is the boys turn up to play with the WINNING ATTITUDE we can get the 2 points on this one. This will be a tough game and a win tonight will get the boys confidence up for future games.

Carn bunnies... GO HARD

PS Good luck DKOR
