Welcome Ian, and glad you've felt like posting.

As you'd know, the secret is not to take anyone else here too seriously - especially after an Eels loss!

Yeah, we're definitely a broad church, us Eels fans.

Differing approaches to the game and to posting on here, but underneath it all, united by the same common desire for the Eels to do well ;-)

Yeah Oakhill....

Very much a rugby school, but we had league teams at various times, (where old ParraAds hit his peak as a young fullback...lol)

Welcome ian. I'm still quite new here too. To make it easier. Just have a word doc with the 3 standard responses. 1. We win by 30, say that the other team were bad and under strength and a 1/2 decent team would have flogged us. 2. We grind out a tough 80mins and win by a FG. we were bad and playing poorly and we were lucky to get the 2 points and a 1/2 decent team would have put 30 on them. And the 3rd we loose just pick a number between 1-17 and blame them and call for them to be dropped!.

how do the stars under the username work?
why are some people juniors, 1st grade, moderators and administors?
do people have more power then otehrs dependent on this?
can anyone be a moderator?

From what i know mods are like security guards they try and look tough and have little power.(can move, lock and delete posts/threads) Admins are like cops have real power and abuse it.(ban and delete people if they don't obey the rules or just don't like what they say) Not sure about the rest i think it relates to post counts

Quick explanation...

Your stars go up the more posts you make, it's linked to the titles you'll see like juniors, first grade, referee, coach etc. It's distracting at first, exciting when you change stars, but most of the time people don't pay much attention.

With moderators, all it means is that it's such a big site they need a team of people to keep an eye out, mainly for things that get posted that might get the site in trouble legally, but also to help everyone stay within the member guidelines, so it all works smoothly enough for everyone.

Your Eels mods are Colonel, Stagger, Twizzle, JessEel and Eelaholic. They can move and delete and lock posts and threads etc, just so everything stays flowing ok.

Different people moderate different sections of the site (I'm part of a team who do UK League, as well as the team who do the political argument section known as 4 Corners). But in here I'm just normal, even though the stars stay. You'll see a few people in the big NRL forum with stars from other areas, just treat everyone the same ;-)

Colonel and Twizz are Super Moderators, because they do heaps of sections around here. Admin are people that actually run the site. Almost everyone involved are pretty decent once you get to know 'em .
