Even as a Storm supporter, I think the Stewart try decision was questionable at best. Manly played us well, and kept us down for most of the game. The magic try to Folou just before half time would have been hard for any team in the comp to stop - you can't really do much against that kind of play.

Without wanting to get into the flame war going on in the Orford thread, I would still suggest that his decisions last night were not his best.

One thing I got out of this game.

Manly played to their absolute potential in attack and defence last next.

Storm did not, yet won. Scary thought for the rest of the competition.

Thats rubbish mate! If playing to your absolute potential is failing to complete the first four sets or to keep handing the ball over in perfect position for the opposition then yeah its perfect .....goose.Melbourne played well but Manly will take alot out of the game. The problem is Manly lack patience against the Storm, they always push the pass when they dont have too.Two min before halftime they pushed it and knocked on which lead to the Storms long distance try.Although dissapointed im happy with the way we went about it and have no doubts we can beat them when it counts!

Melbourne are run by News Limited. News Limited run the game. Come to your own conclusion.

So whats the excuse for calls going Manly's way?

Why has not one person mentioned the fact Manly's last drop out shouldn't have been theirs? No word on that?

That was in a crucial stage of the game and could have sent the game to overtime if it wasn't for our outstanding defense.

A couple of decisions he took were wrong(too many bombs) but most were the right choice but lacked execution....sometimes your a few metres of a great kick.Manly wernt close to there best but i think Melbourne were closer than us.The first Storm try was a forward pass and the video is there to back it up,they do seem to get away with a few but well done to them.Hopefully we can get another crack at them and make them pay but please everyone if Manly cant beat them why would you think your team could??

The situation was exactly the same. Masada Iosefa ran into a slower player trying to block him from getting the ball.

It would have been inconsistant with last week had Manly scored that try.

What? It is inherently different because the push was on a blocked and not a player attempting a catch/pick up! It is not exactly the same, but it has similar attributes, and these attributes mean it should not have been a try, should have been a penalty to manly for intentionally blocking off manly chase

rule is you can't get in the path of an attacking player unless you are going for the ball. quinn acted as a deliberate block on stewart - try should have been awarded or if try not scored should have been a manly penalty.

if quinn was going for the ball and din't change his line fair enough.

same thing when some one chip and chases in teh middle of the field - if a defender gets in way of the chaser it is a penalty to the chaser.

learn the rules people !!!! and video ref !!!!

So what, no players can stand anywhere near the bloke catching the ball because they might be in the way of an "attacking player"?

They can stand still. But Quinn moved into Stewarts line of run. No try, but penalty to Manly should have been the call.

You're being deliberately obtuse. Its not that he was standing there, but that he impeded the opposition player without playing for the ball himself.

Anyway its high time we stopped debating this decision. Game's over.
