A firm that makes millions screwing funds out of people has the audacity to pull sponsorship over at this stage an unproven allegation.

Pffft whats 300K, if we win a premiership we might get a sponsor worth putting on the sleave.

Tarnish your image, yeah right you are accountants ffs, what image.

Where is this coming from. Is there a news link? Is it rumour?
Source ???

What hard line approach? Condemning him before he's been proven guilty?

Most just want the truth to come out, whatever that may be. Just because some aren't willing to believe all the crap that is spewed out of the papers, doesn't mean they will judge him any less harsh IF he's found guilty.

ok..but is it right for surely to accuse PKF of "screwing millions out of the public" without any proof at all??

Did the Titans lose any sponsers from the Lafranchi case?

Does anybody think it's weird that the media and the general public are more galvanised in thier opinion about an alledged assault on a woman MORE than an alledged rape?

My company uses PKF and I will pull my fianacial and accounting if they walk away from the Sharks! I think they would be the big loser in this , with us with a home semi and finals games all shown live.

Should tell them that mate.
They say they are getting calls from clients questioning their association with the sharks, well let them know there is some concern about the threat they have made.

PKF is an overreaction at this stage as they have not allowed suffient time for the club to be able to effectively deal with the situation, which may well end up showing the club will not tolerate the behavior of the player concerned and therefore end up with an example being made of him. Surely that result is one PKF would wish to be associated with.

Sponsors do not want to be associated with these ridiculous and at times appauling off field incidents and I for one appreciate their position.

The issues facing the club and Birds future should not rely upon his innocence or guilt in this case as far as I am concerned. It is the ongoing damage his off field behaviour does to the image of our club. Bird has a history of off field drama and there has been no sign of him taking resonsibility in any one of them. It's always the same old " I didn't do it, It wasn't my fault blah blah blah. Wake up Bird you have a drinking and anger management problems!

IMO Bird needs to go. end of discussion.

The drums are beating that there is another sponsor ready to jump straight in if the accountants do a runner.

PKF are only a mid-tier firm obviously trying to compete with the Big 4. My view on this is that they simply see an exit strategy for the sponsorship, which in my opinion has not provided them with as much exposure/revenue increase as they would of anticipated.

Millers,

Your opinion i believe is correct, and that Bird has been a continual problem to the club and to particular club officials that seem to have to put up with ongoing problems that he has caused, some reported, some not. And i also believe that the club should get rid of him if he indeed is proved guilty or if the situation seems to just disappear due to a lack of statements and proper judicial actions.

However, i don't believe that you could say that the club hasn't acted in the correct manner, to protect the club, the player, the sponsors and all associated parties involved. I'm quite sure the club would have solid legal advice on the issue at hand which would be aiding them in the way they are approaching the handling of this situation.

As has been highlighted here by other individuals, competing clubs have not stood their players down when allegations have been made, some of these allegations are as damaging and serious as Birds, some are not .I think it's fair to say, Birds reputation precedes him and is the main reason that the media has dramatized his situation.

Irrespective of whether you believe that he should go and the club should have nothing to do with a player that continually gets himself into trouble, you have to go through the appropriate motions and ensure that you conduct the situation in a reputable and lawful manner.

The sponsors i suppose have an investment in the club and i think it's not necessarily an unfair reaction that they have had to this incident, however, the opinion of the sponsors should not weigh into the debate as to whether they should sack or back Bird.

Ultimately Zappia and the rest of the club officials are responsible for handling the manner in a reputable and professional manner, and if they are seen to do that, then sponsorship recruitment and retainment should not be an issue for the club.

So far, i can't see that they have done anything wrong.

They've contacted Bird and asked for the official events, he has mislead them, and they have published them.

Once the story has broken that he has lied to them, they have changed their media statement, they have dropped him indefinitely and continually made the statement that they have to uphold the communities expectations, and that the matter is now a legal one.

They have maintained that sacking the player is more than likely a result that will occur.

How could you fault the club?

i dont

the lump of glass imbedded in a girls face and the fact he tried to blame a mate is the reason for the media scrutiny
