no, but it appears you are

you have just repeated the reasons why i have been saying Manly is a waste of time and should be abandoned and forced to relocate to an area that actually plays the game

What part of Manly do produce juniors, but they will produce fewer juniors than Parramatta because they represent a smaller area don't you understand?

I think Pearce would be a great pickup for Manly. I would love to see the roosters get angry and fall down the ladder faster than a cheetah.

Well you can keep saying we are a waste of time but the facts are the league needs a presence on the North Shore/Northern Beaches of Sydney so we are here to stay.

Anyway having juniors is no measure of a clubs success so I am not concerned, look at Parra

why?

they do nothing there

they rely on other clubs to supply them with players

put them in are where they can be more self sufficient

a premiership does not mean they are contributing to the game in their area

maybe all clubs should adopt the Manly approach and do f**k all for juniors. you'll soon see the death of league if that happens and Manly will have nowhere to get players from

Well why couldn't Manly get a bit of the Hills district for example as part of its junior area? That is currently Parramatta juniors, but I don't see that there is any reason why that should be the case, its a similar distance to both Manly or Parra.

And if you are to get rid of Manly, by your criteria, you would also have to get rid of the Storm, Roosters, Cronulla, Balmain out of the Wests joint venture, (doubt they are getting many juniors through), which would leave the comp pretty bare.

As I mentioned, Canterbury only had 5 juniors in their team this year, should we get rid of them?

Manly are also entirely self funded, and have good crowds, so good luck trying to get rid of them.

you're not that bright

to claim most of those clubs do as little as Manly is sheer stupidity

there was a thread not long ago about teams and juniors which you obviously missed

Yea that's not really true is it.

Bell and Orford were both outstanding players before leaving melbourne. Perry, well he played for NSW and won a premiership, he wasnt in sparkling form but his improvement has been minimal. Lyon, played tests for australia and was one of the most dangerous right centres in the game. Kite, was in great form for StGeorge when Manly bought him.

Manly bought well, but im not having any of this sh*t about how Des turned them into great players from nothing. They went on a huge spending spree, bought a lot of senior players into the club and bought a premiership like usual. Im not saying its right or wrong, but please lets not pretend its anything other than that.

and can we also not pretend that they only bought established first grade regulars as well? mark bryant, george rose (who hasnt made his way back into the side after injury despite a strong 2007), mick robertson, david williams, heath lesstrange and glenn hall were all nothings at their previous clubs (robetrson did play first grade but was not the player he is today, I wonder why?).

Of course manly bought marquee players, it was a part of their 5 year plan. But they also bought underperfoming players and turned them into somethnig better. And I read perry wasnt wanted anywhere and manly was his last chance? if thats true he can be lumped in with the other lot, not the marquee lot

Parramatta may produce more juniors, but pity they can't do anyting with them. Over 61 years parramatta have produced one great side good enough to win a few competitions, and were all of the greatest players in that team born and bred in the local area? Sterling? Kenny? Cronin?

so why are there only about 3 in the entire comp?

Its very simple - Baulkham Hills shire and the city of Parramatta are all Parra juniors areas, as is about half of Hornsby Council. This area has a combined population of about 350 000 people. Manly only has Warringah, Manly and Pittwater councils as juniors areas. This has a combined population of about 200 000.

For the 500th time, Less people = less NRL standard players

Well how many juniors do those clubs produce? Especially Roosters...

And you would notice that I joined in September 2008, so I obviously did miss that thread.

Sterling is a Wagga boy who went to school at Fairfield Patrician brothers and Kenny is a Guildford junior.

it's pretty hard to do anything when we continually have the eyes picked out of us by clubs who are too lazy to produce them themselves.

Before last year Manly were sh*te...Even then they had something like 1 rep player? You Parra lot are f**king nutters

You see you are using common sense and rational thinking. A lot of parramatta fans on this board (especially those morons invading this thread) show many similarities to the "great" parramatta CEO Fitzgerald...... and they wonder why they cannot win a premiership.

Well you came within a game of the grand final last year, and without many significant losses this year except for Tahu and Smith you would have expected to do alright, at least make the 8. Its not Manly's fault you have a rubbish coach and the attitudes of some of your players are terrible

who's blaming Manly? as I've said all along if you're allowed to get away with it than good luck to you.

Well you claimed it was hard to do anything with other clubs picking your eyes out, but it would be a bit of a stretch to blame your problems this year on anyone but Parramatta.

You're right, you didn't explicitly blame Manly, but it seemed implied considering this thread is primarily about Manly.
