Because records are made to be broken:

1. Will Cronulla ever win a premiership?
2. Will Souths ever win another premiership?
3. Will the Broncos ever lose a Grand Final?
4. Will the Melbourne Storm ever gain the wholehearted support of the Melbourne people?
5. Will the Bears ever gain readmittance into the NRL?
6. Will the video referee ever be abolished completely?
7. Will Rugby League ever become the dominant winter sport in Australia, outside of NSW and Queensland?
8. Will anyone ever best Ken Irvine's try scoring record?
9. How about Manly's 40-0 Grand Final win over Melbourne? Will that ever be bested as a winning margin?
10. Will the WCC ever be reformatted to resemble an actually relevant contest?
11. Will Phil Gould ever shut up?
12. Will Paul Gallen ever stop being a grub?
13. Will a winger ever captain Australia?
14. How about win a Clive Churchill/ Dally M medal?
15. Will they ever bring back the biff?
16. Will anyone ever break Steve Menzies' record, 349 games for the same club?
17. Will the Origin concept ever be modified to include states other than NSW and QLD?
18. Will Origin ever die?
19. Will either NSW or Queensland ever claim 4 straight series victories?
20. Will League ever die?

Eastern Suburbs still hold this record over St George given the 4 points for a try factor.

And no, Manly will be the closest any team will ever come to that.

Given the four points for a try factor?

They were three point tries. Deal with it. The biggest winning margin is held by Manly.

No good at understanding that you can't adjust the margin to make yourself feel better. There were no four point tries back then so the margin stands at 38 points.

No good at English either?

Fact: Roosters margin greater than Manly's given equal point scoring footing.

Response: ?

My response: You are a pin head.

Fact?

The fact is that in 1975 tries were worth three points not four. There is no equal point scoring footing. In 1975 you would also have to factor in the the fact that scrum penalties existed where they don't in 2008 among a whole host of different rule interpreations.

The scores are in the book.

Easts 38 Dragons 0

Manly 40 Storm 0

They have a greater winning margin.

Deal with it.

Fact: We do not adjust other points records to achieve parity with contemporary records. Manly's 40-0 win will appear in the records. The Roosters' 38-0 win will not.

Opinion: Different scoring went hand in hand with different rules in virtually every aspect of play. Every other area is just too hard to formulate an objective counterfactual for, though, which is why 3 point tries are being discussed here. Ultimately, Manly's record will stand, and the Roosters' record won't.

lol - wanker.

Let me draw a comparison for you when one speaks of "records".

When a natural disaster occurs, it's measured in $.

When comparing these over the years, the older losses are adjusted to current values.

Therefore, Roosters 38 is greater than Manly's 40.

Since when has a rugby league game been a natural disaster?

38 points is still 38 points.

Pinhead.
