No punt intended, but many of you guys said that it was unfair during the 90s that NSW got to select CANBERRA players to represent NSW in origin... after many of the NSW fans said that QLD selected PNG (Adrian Lam) Fijian (Civinoceva, Lote) NSW (Folau, Inglis, Thaiday) players... to be honest, the players we picked from Canberra (namely Daley and Ricky Stuart) are NSW players. They played for Canberra because that was the closet RL town at senior level to their bases:

Stuart hails from the NSW town of Queanbeyan, while Loz comes from Junee.

True. but I doubt the QLDers will have a fuss over that seeing they can use our very own Greg Inglis and Israel Folau :(

You goose. Lam grew up in Brisbane and is as Aussie as they come ... the exception being he has PNG parents and may have been born there. The only reason he played for PNG was that he was asked while playing in the QRL First Grade Comp in his early 20s. He was about 10th in line for the QLD job and it was looking unlikely he would play in the NRL/ARL or whatever it was. He could have played for Australia after State Of origin but felt it was more beneficial to PNG if he kept playing for them. Lote and Petero are also brisbane raised and very Aussie even though they have Fijian parents. Inglis I can understand your frustration but that was an ARL stuff up not the QRL - he actually said all along he wanted to play for QLD but hindsight (and the rules) show he should have played for you mob. But we'll keep him ... thanks. Folau is a QLDer by the rules and Thaiday grew up 10 mins from my family home and is 100% QLDer.

Michael Hagan was eligible for Qld because he played 3 pre-season matches for Wests Panthers in '82. Graham Lowe, Maroons coach in 1991-92, was a Kiwi.

I don't care who Greg Inglis supported as a kid, he shouldn't be playing for Queensland. I never will regard him as a Queenslander. He was born and raised in NSW, he lives in Melbourne and only goes to Queensland to play the Broncos, Titans, Cowboys and for the odd Origin match. If the next Joey was running round in the Cairns junior comp and went for the Blues, that's nice but I still wouldn't want him to be playing for NSW because he is a QUEENSLANDER.

If the Maroons want to take players from anywhere they like, fine, but for them to go and suggest that Queensland players and fans have more pride in their state is laughable.

its now just gone back to NSW V QLD

QLD have killed off the Origin concept that they wanted so badly when it began and made it what it was

sad when you think about it

RIP Origin

maybe one day it will return

Well then Peter Sterling is a QLDer he was born in Toowoomba. I never thought anything of ACT players playing for NSW.

It's hilarious to see all the NSW people saying RIP Origin, just cause you havent won it in three years!

But seriously, stop having a sook about it, Inglis is a QLDer, and nothing you can say is going to change it.

And El Diablo, the only sad thing is the complete downfall of rugby league in Sydney.

:lol: QLD to make it a 4 peat...but i wonder what it wouldv'e been like if Izzy and GI in blue instead of maroon

With the chimpanzees on the blues selection board, it wouldn't have looked any different because they'd have been overlooked for Joel Reddy and Paul Mellor

" If GI wants to play for QLD, then GI is gonna play for Queensland. Why is GI gonna play for Queenland ? Because GI wants to. "

It probably didnt really hurt too much that he went to high school in Brisbane.

This isnt about birth. I have never ever mentioned that

Inglis should not be playing for Queensland and will never be a Queenslander. Queensland also got a rule change that certain 14 year olds could not play for NSW if they moved there. See here . NSW has no such rule.

If you were going off birth then f**k all of last years Queensland side would've been eligible

Also, Queenslanders said Origin was dead when NSW put 50 on them.

Thats why your goverment spends so much money trying to get people from NSW to move up there cause you blokes are a bunch of halfwits.

Origin should be called NSW vs Papua New Fijisland the home of Traitors and refugees
