THIS SUCKS. im a bit of a stagg fan, a solid member of our 06 championship side. we are really solid for backrow, and stagg isnt the best attacking player (in fact pretty sure hes one of the worst in the nrl lol) but he holds club records for tackling so it sucks to see him go.

Stagg is a great defender - would be an Origin regular if not for one D Johnstone. Stuffed if I know what Bennet thought he was a pivot though.

What's the Dogs pack for 09 look like now?

We've got rid of most our crims now
A few years ago we could have been the Canberra Eels (Schif, Mogg, Drew, Hindmarsh plus one im sure im forgetting)
and recently we could be the the Canberra ESL (Smith, Logan, Adamson)
Throw in Hodgson,Smith played at the Eels,Adamson was a Parra junior you did have a few,and got pretty good value out of them too.

are you serious? Thurston wasn't even starting with the dogs when he left. They made a conscious decision to re-sign sherwin over thurston as sherwin was a premiership winning halfback at the time and thurston was the backup, or perhaps bench utility. The cowboys bought ben harris from the english club he was at, they didnt buy him when he was at the dogs, he just happened to have played there at an earlier stage of his career. As for Tonga well you could make a case for him but I didnt see much of a fight go up to keep him, especially considering the amount of free cap space the dogs had. He is an injury prone player who the dogs decided to let go because of promising juniors and new buys (Idirs, Morris).

Correct me if im wrong, but didnt thurston win a comp with Canterbury as their regular 5/8?. He was a regular from my memory.

Prepare to be corrected.

2004 - bulldogs - 7 games

He only played a total of 29 games in 3 years at the dogs, 7 in '02, 15 in '03 and 7 in '04 to cover for injuries. Of those 29 games, 12 of them were off the bench

http://www.nrlstats.com.au/archive/players.cfm?PlayerID=1094

Thurston had an injury plagued career at the Dogs. Thurston started 04 as the Dogs first choice five eighth with Anasta at lock. Thurston was injured for most of 04 and came back late in the year and was lucky to grab a spot in the GF.

Hodgson is a nuffbag, and that backrow couldn't bust a paper bag.
