The squad on PI is actually a top 30 but as you said Caldwell may have moved up to the 25 when Joe Williams left, i suppose that would depend on who was number 26 in terms of money.

Still, it's pretty hard to argue again with that photo and confirmation of him being present training with our first grade side.

Our club is pretty f*cking useless when it comes to confirming and denying rumours. So unless they come out and deny it, i think it's safe to assume that he is a Panther in 2009.

He was also shown on NRL Summertime tonight too, albeit very briefly, so I'd say he is a signing.

mx it was confirmed to me by a player who said steve meridith is training with the first grade squad. I put it on p1 interesting no comment to it from any of the boot stompers over there.Normally they would shoot it down

Murraymob, you know that it was a 'boot stomper' that asked the question about Meredith being a Panther in the first place. Instead of running people down, maybe you would consider the fact that one of the 'boot stompers' needed to ask about Meredith would indicate to most people that the 'boot stompers' don't know the answer to the question? What do you think?

Tom.

but being part of a official site gives you access to information that us mere mortals gain unofficially.Confirmation that a player is actually signed by penrith on a penrith site did not seem to exist

Murraymob, you probably know as much as anyone about Meredith. Andrew Farrell is on leave and he has mentioned that the 'office is closed down' or words to that effect. So I assume that part of Panthers admin is shut down for the christmas break. We are all as curious as you. But as the pictures of Meredith in a Panthers uniform suggest, I would use the line 'it looks like a Panther, sounds like a Panther and feels like a Panther. Therefore..."

Cheers,
Tom.

what i am more interested in is how they can fit him under the cap when no money was available 2 of our best back rowers from the u20 Shane Blacket and Micheal Leeds. And he is only training with the first grade squad not Windsor

From Andrew Farrell on PI -

"Yes Steve is training with the club.

As for his contractual details, they aren't known by me at this point yet so it may be any number of possibilities from an outright contract with Penrith, one with Windsor and is training with the extended first grade squad (at last count that was about 35 players) and/or may be trialling for a contract."

Our club is pretty fricken ho[peless at alot of things. When push comes to shove, with a decent team of management in there, were would have won 4-5 premierships by now. Alas, I think we have about the same in wooden spoons.

Only if he brings Matty Elliott an apple everyday and brings the training bag with a built in kneeling cushion in it (not that there's anything wrong with that)

I reckon he should get stuck into the chin ups and lat pull downs to give a bigger target area for management to stick the knives in when he gets a couple of injuries????
