Could you put a gym on the third floor?

I'm not sure, but I'm led to believe that well run gyms make good dollars.(in SA anyway).

multiple classes and weights etc maybe even special night/day sessions with eels trainers or players.
And a healthy alternative cafe for socialising.

I know it's not overly conducive to a sports bar type atmosphere but may be another angle.

set up, insurance, etc... are a real pain in the arse but there may be a way of making some good money for the club in the fitness industry without going to as much trouble as setting up and running a gym.

Hi all,

Quick post and then I've gotta hit the sack. Its been a tough 36 hour straight stint of work and 3P and I'm out of energy right now. I just didn't want you to think that I was ignoring the posts. I have just read up to this point and when I get a chance tomorrow, I know I want to go back and talk about the following posts on this thread 221,223,242,280,285,& 289. HJ, I don't believe that Bartman is a 3P groupie. I have caught up with him at the get-together and he has asked the tough questions himself and has never come out and said 3P all the way. From what I have read of his posts, he actually has to be admired for taking a neutral stance and just posting his views. As is logic and commonsense, everyone is entitled to that and that is the way it should be.

One quick thing however is the issue of demographics, the pokie players and the machines. It has taken up alot of the talk of the day from what I have read. I stress now and stress heavily. In no way are 3P running a racial campaign. To think that would be ludicrous. We do not have a vendetta against Pokie players either. I've been prone to have the odd punt and always regretted it later when the damn free games do not arrive before the cash runs out. Ovo said it and we acknowledge it as well. It is an important part of our revenue at present and into the future. The point is that it should not be our major source of income in a way that we don't think about what other sources could keep us making more income.

The feel at the moment is that IT is the sole income and IT is what we need to purely focus on. I agree we need to keep them. I agree it would be a quick death without them without any backup revenue in place beforehand. But I also say that other areas are needed and it should not be the only thing that people think about.

On the issue of this thread. We didn't decide to start a thread saying lets get rid of all the poker machines. It is called "What to do with Level 3" which we think is a major let-down and an area where it could be utilised a hell of alot better to provide alot more revenue. Ovo has stated today that he is going to look at some of the things on this thread and I say good on him. I hope he does, and we are happy to assist him if he requires assistance.

Fish eel, again, I wanted to let you guys and girls know that your not being ignored, I am just extremely tired right now. It was a great post you put together and it would be one of the numbers that I have listed above. I think me writing a response right now while trying to hold my eye lids up would not do it justice. I intend to give it the proper response that it is due as soon as I get out of a few meetings tomorrow. Thanks for being patient.

Someone made a point before about Alan's comment about the new Reno room and something like 76 new machines. For those of you that don't know, he is referring to the new room that they just opened a little while back on Level One. It is in the far back corner of the gaming lounge and is an outdoor sort of setting. It is indoors but has the sort of feel of outdoors, is air-con'ed and a smoking room for the players. Just thought I'd clarify that.

Talk to you all tomorrow.

Regards,

Col Green.

Looking forward to your strategic plan to bring in the $$ when you're not so tired Parra Future.

I guess some of that is from the line of sponsors you said you have waiting in the wings. Any update on those ? I assume some announcements are not too far away ?

I don't understand why 3P still exists? 3P was a group of individuals who succesfully got some of their members voted onto the PDJRL board.

Now that the elections have completed, I don't understand why the 3P group would still exist. We have a board - thats it. Having 3P indicates that we have a split board - 4 of whom are taking advice from and an external 'group' and 3 that aren't. I personally find this very odd.

Do we have 2 boards - sitting in the same room? Please feel free to clarify this PF.

Gronk, just to add to what Col is saying, yes we do have a line of sponsors that will come on board, and yes they will be announced at an appropriate time. Firstly we have a hard campaign ahead to win the upcoming election, so it would be a bit arogant to start promising supporters and members things we have no control over at this time.We cannot change the club overnight, but Sterlos Bar is a priority to refurbish and will be patron friendly very quickly. As Col said, the Asian community are very welcome into our club, as is any othe culture who has chosen Australia to be their home, and in particular Parramatta. We are just concerned that the poker machines are the only priority within the club as a source of revenue. Poker machines are going nowhere, but there will be change of where they are within the club. This is a very proud rugby league club with fanatical supporters, so in future when you walk through those front doors, you will be walking through the proud history of this club every time you enter, and not feel like casino where you are not welcome. After our get together on Friday night with supporters, I walked through every area of our club, and then spent 3 hours or more walking from one end of Parramatta to the other, seeing what other pubs, clubs, night clubs etc. were doing at that time of night. The Roxy you can have, but the rest of the venues were either packed or had good crowds. None had done anything special, and a lot of the punters were creatures of habit, so there is an opportunity to create and promote a venue where people feel comfortable, can afford it, and call their local haunt. People are creatures of habit, so this will take a while for the patrons to make our club their local again, but it will happen. Obviously I am going to get some negative replies to this, so by all means have your say with constructive critisism, but dont bother putting the slipper in for the sake of it, cause I will switch off. Be positive and tells us your thoughts, and be fair dinkum as we can not please everyone. You are the people who have been neglected within this club for a long time, so help us evolve this club so every community within Parramatta has a place within our club, and bring our supporters and their families back to where they belong. Every person that has ever been involved in this club,in any capacity, has an opinion of what should happen, because they have pride and passion for Eels. We have to make the right choices, with the right people, which I believe we have, but we cannot do it without you, and you have to all vote with your feet and come back and support the club. Please be patient for my replies as I cannot be on here 24/7...but I will get to you.
Talk soon......Terry Leabeater.

Great post Terry.
I'm sure that answers some of Gronks questions.

I also think it is important that a voice other than Colins is heard on this forum. So thankyou for taking the time.

Are you kidding me? Just because these 4 people got elected to the board they now aren't allowed to take advice from anyone else??? Seriously, have a think about what you just said...

I think it does raise, potentially, some masters and puppets issues.

I look forward to seeing who 3P put forward for the leagues club elections.

Following that, it would be good to know I am voting for the person on the ballot paper not the person in their ear.

Not saying it is or will be the case, but it is certainly a potential perception people could get.

And the previous board never took any advice from other parties I assume?

Perhaps you should ask the current LC board the same question

Especially if they are looking for it

I think it raises the issue when people who hold no position speak for and on behalf of board members.

I don't see a problem if the board members have agreed to electing a spokesperson. It makes a lot of sense IMO. I would be far more concerned if there were people behind the scenes pulling the strings who were entirely faceless and not willing to talk.

Do you think the current LC board has anyone behind the scenes? You seem to be avoiding answering my questions about the current board fishy... why is that?

I think there's only one person behind the scenes of the current board pulling the strings, and we all know who that is.

If someone is going to speak on behalf of the board, they should be accountable.

They should either be on the board, or paid staff of the club, ie Ross Smart.

Are you going to paint me as a supporter of the current board because I ask questions on here of 3P?

As for the current board, I dont know their arrangements, but they would take advice from LC staff. I also dont see anyone who has no roll with the board or club speaking, or seeming to speak on behalf of them.

Col Green has made a valuable contribution to this forum and discussion. One thing though, he does talk, in regards to 3P as 'we', 'we want to do this or that'. For example, Col mentioned sponsorship announcements.

What capacity is Col speaking in? As a potential candidate for LC election? A potential paid employee of the club?

Asking for transparancy is NOT a bad thing Mickdo - and in asking these questions, it also doesn't follow I am attacking or being critical of 3P. I am sure, in the fullness of time as we come closer to the elections, we'll all learn more.

He isnt really 'behind the scenes' though, is he? And yes, should be reigned in.

But, what's the problem, honestly?
Better than no communication at all, imo.

Suity

Yeah, it's not such a biggie at the moment, hence i first said 'potentially'.

At the moment, it is good as it lets everyone know what 3P is about.

It would be good once all the candidates are announced if the communication comes from a candidate themselves, whether that be Col Green, Terry Leabetter or anyone.
