Agreed, Im actually a little stunned that he is in the team at all let alone the starting side, bad selection in my opinion he certainly doesnt pose a threat to the opposition, I would have thrown Oak in instead mybe even Latimore.

They are travelling overseas so it is normal for an extended bench to be taken. Could be injury concerns but I would guess this is just a normal practise.

I'm happy with that side. Though I would have expected Grothe to be teamed with Smith as opposed to Inu but that could change. Lowrie, not an obvious choice I guess, but Anderson must be impressed with his work effort in the off season and given we've not many experienced back rowers in our ranks having him in the side for our first week might be very benificial. Hauraki definately has not earned a given first grade spot, let alone one in the starting side.

That second rower spot next to Hindy is the one up for grabs, we were always looking one good player short.

Over the course of the season it could go to Wellar, Lowrie, Joe G, and some people have mentioned Wright, Oake or Latimore as well. Whoever fills it each week need sto lift beyond what we have seen from them thus far to be first grade starting standard imo.

Here's hoping Wellar (and Lowrie) put their best foot forward on Saturday.
