I heard booing, but that was for the ref to finally give us a hold down penalty that had been going on all night.

I was saying Boourns.

Line of the century. Well done, Goey.

Hayne certainly played better but was hardly a star.

True.

He did a few very nice things. The intercept, the pass and the kick were all good.

However, only the pass was a five-eighth's move and that was close to being intercepted and giving away a try. Burt threw several passes like that throughout the game and threw a much better pass for our first try. Burt was also a more involved kicker, as is generally the case each week.

Hayne played well (his best game of the year so far) but continued to show he is no five-eighth. As has been mentioned here, his stupid little dances have been exposed as useless and totally ineffective and even the commentators talked about he runs like a softie. Links to the three-quarters are coming almost exclusively from Finch and Burt.

My brother is a Raiders fan and we were texting each other throughout the game with the two themes being how soft Hayne was running and how bloody boring the game was in general.

If this is what we have to offer this year we will struggle against the real teams in the competition.

Krisnan Inu: Ref error a double whammy

Article from:

By Josh Massoud
March 30, 2009 12:00am

PARRAMATTA'S Krisnan Inu has revealed referees were wrong in ruling that Canberra winger Justin Carney had not grounded the ball for what might have been a crucial try in Saturday night's clash.
After conceeding three tries in the final 20 minutes to lose 18-16, the Raiders were still fuming yesterday over the Carney no-try they believe cost the Green Machine victory.
Canberra were leading 16-4 midway through the second half when Carney bulldozed across. Video referee Russell Smith, however, ruled the 20-year-old was tackled short and had failed to ground the ball.
Parramatta flyer Jarryd Hayne then scored a 95m intercept try from the ensuing tackle that put the Raiders on the road to ruin.
Carney later swore the ball had been grounded and his thoughts were echoed by rival three-quarter Inu, who made the vital tackle.
"He got the ball down - it was on the ground when we all got up," Inu told The Daily Telegraph.
The Eels centre, however, believes Carney still should have been denied for a double movement.
"I stopped him in the tackle short of the line and then he went again and got it down," Inu said.
"It was a double movement."
Smith, however, did not award Parramatta a penalty for double movement when he disallowed the try. The decision continued Canberra's woeful luck with the man upstairs, who cut them less slack than any other team last season.
Asked about the incident yesterday, referees boss Robert Finch said he would review the tape.
"I was at the ground and my initial thought was that Carney had been pulled up short," Finch said.
"And even if he got the ball down, I'd still have a question-mark over the double movement."
Finch also responded to claims from the Warriors that the glut of penalties for tackling kickers had become a "farce".
"The coaches and administrators all wanted us to protect kickers who are the most high-profile players in the game," Finch said.
"I'm making no apologies for it. There's plenty of different ways defenders can pressure the kicker without launching into them."

Also, regarding Hayne's pissy running.

He has thrown one meaningful pass in 3 games, which shows he is no ball player.

So he's a running five-eighth, right? That's what everyone has been saying on here and that's what the likes of DA seem to be saying.

So it turns out that he's more of an ineffectual running five-eighth than he is a ball playing five-eighth.

How many line breaks does he have from his running? How many offloads does he get after hitting the line like the kamikazee he is (haha)?

Zero?

So he contributes almost nothing to the backline and contributes nothing as a running five-eighth.

So, please, can someone tell me why he isn't shifted back to the wing or dumped to Wenty?

You're hatred of Hayne is shining through in your posts HJ. He runs 95 metres from an intercept, throws the pass for our last try to win the game and you want him on the wing??

If he is such a pissy runner, why would you play him on the wing where that would become a liability from kick returns. If some of our forwards - including our captain - put a bit more quality in their hit-ups, then we wouldn't need our five-eighth taking pissy hitups!

How many posts of value does HJ contribute when he's talking about Hayne?

Zero?

So, please, can someone tell me why he bothers talking about the guy anymore? It's clear HJ has absolutely no clue and is completely blinded by hatred for the guy.

You're being a goose about it. Give it up.

As far as Hayne's running game - so far this season he's made 317m in 3 games - that's 106m per game.
That's actually quite good for a 5/8 (particulalry for one who is learning the position).

Along with the running, he's making over 20 tackles per contest, and has made 9 one-on-one tackles to lead the team in that regard.
Not to mention he's won us 2 games of football in the last 15 minutes in the last 2 weeks - both with his defence by making key plays at key times.
Oh - and he threw the 'money ball' for the winning try on the weekend.

Face the facts HJ - Hayne has the game awareness equal to any of the superstars in the game. He's 20 years old and learning a new position, but he's already made the major plays to contribute to ALL of our wins this season.

How can you not see that? Must've been in some sort of drunken stupour shouting your hate for Hayne wildly to anyone seated around you while Jarryd took the intercept pass and raced 90m to change the fate of the match.

Face the facts, the kid is a class act, and has shown it from the minute he stepped into first grade. Every 'good judge' around has tipped him for huge things - and the fact that he's seen in the upper echelon of players is obvious from the people who do the photo-shoots. You might not understand why they lump him in with Inglis and Folau - but that's your mistake.

It was tiring last week the way you whinged about our game winning player. It's even more tiring this week...

It has been very obvious for quite a while that HJ doesn't like Hayne.
Hence, why his posts are biased against him, and hence why his opinion of him is clouded.

Hence, why people should ignore any comments he makes about Hayne.

Suity.

PS. You are both completely correct.

Im a tigers fan but love the eels but you have got to be kidding me about Hayne. Any 5/8 in the comp would have thrown that pass. BIG DEAL. Any one could have intercepted that ball, IT WENT STRAIGHT TO HIM. He showed us he isn't fast at all, Herbert and 3 others caught up to him.

Don't get me wrong, I want Hayne to succed but he just isn't a 5/8.

You are completely correct too - I actually feel bad for being upset about the whole thing...

But when DA said Hayne would be 5/8, I just knew there'd be some unreasonable flak being sent at him from HJ - I'll just use the 'ignore comments re: Hayne' tactic in the future methinks!

They did all start in line with him didn't they....

You could say what you said about any interception! 'oh - anybody could have intercepted it, IT WENT STRAIGHT TO HIM' --> yeah - but that's because the player put themselves in position to make the play.

But thanks for coming in here and enlightening us all - much appreciated.
