Mortimer to halfback, Hayne to fullback for the Broncos

We honestly can't do any worse in defence than what we showed today against the Bulldogs. Mortimer has said that he is ready for NRL so if he honestly believes that then I say no harm in showing him the number 7 jersey prematurely and seeing how he eases into it. Hayne needs to go to fullback because whilst I know the errors in defence weren't Burts fault, when Hayne was playing fullback he would have stopped a lot of those tries from being scored. Two or three in particular come to mind where they just crushed over the top of Luke Burt.

I don't think Burt should be out of the side completely though, chuck him on the wing in place of Grothe if he is injured.

This will hopefully make our backs have some kind of impact again, though the forwards are an entirely different matter.

Hayne was abysmal today...and you want to give him more responsibility? You and Hagan really are a good match

None of our backs are shining if you have not noticed. Inu and Hayne could go to any other club and play in their backline and earn themselves an instant representative jumper and at the rate we are going I don't see why they wouldn't.

Finch should go well at the Storm because they have a decent halfback, we need someone with some attacking flair and Mortimer will do. Who gives a f**k how "small" he is, we are leaking this many points anyway.

Hayne is being played out of position, he has said himself he wants to be at fullback.

Hayne looks better defensively at 5/8 then centre, dont know why this is? maybe he's just having problems at that particular position.

In an ideal world Hayne should be moved to fullback to replace Mr 48%, but that wont happen unless he gets injured.

I think we should go this way

1. Burt
2. Inu
3. Reddy
4. Smith
5. Grothe
6. Hayne
7. KK

Yep i think that combo gives us our best chance of wining unfortunately.

It's all well and good to say Hayne was abysmal - but he wasnt the only one.

The guy is a fullback.

Each year, he starts in a different position, gets moved around and ends up at fullback.

Just put the guy there now. It's where he'll end up.

I would be all for it, but i thought that Mateo and Keating looked dangerous. If they could bring Mortimer in and have Mateo play a similar role to take a load of Mortimer im all for it. I'm fine with Hayne at fullback, but how do you drop Burt when there are guys playing twice as bad as him. Burty looked good in attack, im not saying Hayne couldn't do this aswell... but I cant justify dropping him.

What about a Hayne/Mortimer combination, though I still believe that Hayne should replace Burt despite loyalties. Burt honestly didn't play that bad, but the thing is, I can say with confidence that if Hayne was at fullback today the score would have been a lot closer. There is no desperation/putting the body on the line by Burt. He is sturdy, but sturdy has not been winning football games.

put hayne in the # 13, runs and hits harder than Smith, plus he would get his hands on the ball heaps more

I must enjoy pain. Someone told me the score, I got cut at them and told them never to do it again, yet I watched anyway.

lol and you say you can't take my seriously.

Hayne even f**ked up wing today. Why give him the FB job ? At least Burt was creative and played a good Brett Hodgson 2nd 5/8 type of game. Leave him on the wing I say.

Okay. I'm going to wear a Broncos jersey then to Suncorp this Friday, because there is no way we are going to win if we don't change in some shape or form.

you guys need SOMETHING thats for damn sure.

Exactly. No harm in trying out a few things, MORTIMER ESPECIALLY.

I disagree.

He made his name as a winger.
He represented as a winger.
He played his best footy as a winger.

Stuff him completely.
Play him in his rightful position and he can stay there or f**k off.

BTW, I'm not saying he was responsible for today's loss.
He just needs to be told what to do.

Simple.

IMO and I'm sure alot of others would agree Hayne played his best at the back end of 2007 when he was at fullback.
