Relocation

The Central Coast will happen.

Whether it's next year or in 5 there will be a team there one day.

I always thought relocation was not the way to go - who in that area who doesn't follow the 'reloctaed team' already would do so?

I hate manly and if they relocated to my area, no way in the world would i ever envisage hoping they had a win.

i always thought the NRL needed to build a team from the ground up and the area would get behind it.

but i look at the south melbourne Swans in the AFL and the FItzroy liona.
they are now the sydney swans and the Brisbane lions.
Both have enormous support in the one team one town franchises.

the relocated team to the Central coast may not get total support at first, but will definately get the next generation.
Plus as stars from other team are bought to the club, kids - who are often fickle supporters - will want that players jumper or poster in his 'local' colours.

One team, one town teams are successful.
Brisbane.
Gold coast.
They have ALL the support.

I am totally over this negativity about our club's finances.

i have no inside knwoledge and have not seen the books, but in this climate the weak will continue to get weaker.

Crowd figures will not improve this year either.

i was always against the sharks relocating, but today i have changed my mind.

I would rather follow the Central coast Sharks (they will be called the Sharks anyhow) then watch the footy and have no-one to support.

We need to move and it needs to be on the table today.

in my view relocation is just another word for wrapping the club up

another word for starting a new club

it wont be the cronulla sharks anymore - it would be 'that central coast' team

at the end of the day i am a rugby league fan and i think i would go for the roosters as they are closer

a merger with the roosters or souths woulkd be far better in my opinion

sad times ahead imo

i dont think i could stop following the sharks irrespective of where they played from - would be no different to when i lived out of sydney for a few years as i couldn't attend games

yes, it would not be on traditional home soil, but im a supporter of the game as much as my team

it wont be the fault of the NRL if we are to relocate - it will be a result of administration and a complacent atitude and vision for many years

If we were shifted, I would still go for the sharks, and i'd still go to the games,as long as it was the CC, not Adelaide, where it would end up a once a year sojourn.
On the same token, I agree with Millers. although it would painful to merge, for both sides, in today's economic climate it makes sense to hold the whole eastern side of sydney. Big games at the SFS smaller games at Endeavour.

I'd become a Gold Coast supporter if we merged and became like the silent partner like illawarra or wests.

In any case, what quigs said.

perhaps spidey

but frankly i think we are just too small a population to sustain a team and the founders farged up by locating it in the ass end of woolaware compounding the situation

but i like it there - its a short walk from home

seriously - there are many factors that need addressing

other than location

Millers is dead right. The location of the field is not near the people that go to the games.
Cronulla the suburb has 2 types of residents. The aged / ageing & the young & self absorbed. Neither are spenders on football.
IMO The entire club & field should be demolished to make way for the development. The new ground & club should be built in Sutherland & wold service the high growth areas of south south Western Sydney better.

Good luck, hope you guys hold on and manage to stay put until the development brings in the cash. Surprisingly good turnout by Sharks fans last night, if any Roosters fans outside the couple of hundred from the chook pen turned up it would have been a half decent crowd.

f**k me

i would hate to see what you call a 'long' walk then

but come to think of it...i have parked nearly as far away to get into the ground ( you know the one with only half the parking and access as any other ground)

CC would not embrace the sharks. they would die there in 2 years. only the bears might succeed at CC. otherwise a new team.

If it was a team based there Ausguy I think they could survive, particularly once a few locals made their way into the starting team.

But not if it was some half arsed part move.
