What player were you most devastated to see leave your club?

I was a mess when Wiki left the Raiders, and not much better when management treated Clyde like sh*t and let him go to the dogs

Since the subject is players who left, I say Jason Cayless.

Our biggest issue of course is the retirement of Fittler from which we are yet to recover.

Pissed off when Tallis left but was absolutely shattered when Tingha left..

Glad he came back for a proper farewell at Kogarah in 04. Champion bloke and talent who brought smiles to a lot of faces..

Ali Lauatiiti

He could have been the modern day Mark Graham but f**ked managment let him go

Also Iafeta Paleasiina was a big loss but Wigan offered him 5 and a half times more than what he was on with the Warriors so him leaving for $$$$ wasnt sad but admired becos the $$$$ was to good to turn down.

With Ali it wasnt about $$$ and that was heartbreaking

Few cowboys have made as big as impression in the time they have spent here then those three, Singy and Rah in particular as they added a huge contribution to our rise to a top 8 team in 04, ray was a huge loss as we havent brought up a replacement for him since he left with kaufasi doing sweet f**kall this year.

All three earned thier rite to seek better deals though and will always be considered as heroes by cowboy fans

Local junior, developed by the club and got his first taste of first grade at the cowboys. I understand why he left but it was a real kick in the guts as he and bowen were the first and to some extent the only real superstars the cowboys have produced. For him to leave, especially to the Broncos who are a team we love to beat was and still is hard to take. What is even harder to take is that he was in no small part responsible for the Tigers beating us in the final in 2005.

Going back to the Steelers days here:

- Ryan Girdler: keeping McIndoe who played one more season and then retired over this guy was a brilliant decision.
- Dean Schifilitti: Dean Callaway was honest but not half as good as Spaghetti Twin #1, who was mentioned a number of times as a Queensland Origin hopeful, but always had Steve Walters in his way.
- Neil Piccinelli: Spaghetti Twin #2 was the one player Graham Murray managed to drag with him to Superleague, left a big hole in our forward pack. We especially missed his defense.
- John Simon: I will never forgive the Roosters for signing our lynch pin player to play reserve grade.
- Brett Rodwell: Souths deserved to die for this one! :p

and post-merger:

- Craig Fitzgibbon: absolutely gutted when he left. Should have won the 99 Churchill Medal ahead of Kimmorley. History has proven how stupid we were to let him go.
- Luke Patten: brilliant young fullback when he left, and we didn't have a ready-made replacement at the time. Proved not to be so bad when Hornby came along.
- Anthony Mundine: while I personally celebrated because I thought he was a douche (and still do) and was jumping ship because he couldn't hack losing a couple of games (like Langer at the donkeys), it still hurt us long term. We never did dig up a decent halves partner for Barrett to replace him.
- Amos Roberts: the Rorters again. Thankfully he never really came good for them or Penrith.
- Nathan Blacklock: I was really pissed when he walked. Thought he was being a sook, much like Mundine. But at least he came back, and all was forgiven, especially after the match where he helped Manly pull off the second biggest choke in history.
- Colin Best: one of the many rejects from other clubs we managed to turn into a decent first grader. Ultimately would have proven more useful than Gasnier as far as I'm concerned.
- Lance Thompson: this guy bled for the red V. Watching him play for the Sharks was a bitter pill.
- Luke Bailey: Well I guess the Tits had to get players from somewhere, and I know if I have to see Saints players go to another NRL team I'd prefer it to be the Coast, but it still sucked to lose such a great player. Busted his arse for us every single week, and is now doing the same for them.
- Trent Barrett: Part of me was upset, as he was my favourite player, and part of me was angry at the way he jerked us around. In the end he deserves to be where he is now.
- Adam Peek: was great in his lone season for us. Very disappointed we couldn't find a place for him and he went to the friggin Sharks.
- Mark Gasnier: Could have been a great player, ended up being a waste of space. Only turned it on when he felt like it, and Beau Scott's form this season shows up how little he put in compared to the ability he had. He jerked us around the same as Barrett, lost us one of the Morris twins as an added benefit, and then pissed off to frog land for the money. Good riddance.
- Jason Ryles: This really pissed me off. A frustrating player at times, if anything he tried too hard, but no-one could question his effort. Would have been a gun under Bennett's tutelage.
- Kirk Reynoldson: this might seem a strange one, especially to Knights fans, but he actually busted his gut for us last year in a supporting role and while being paid peanuts. Yet another off-cut who came good while playing for us. I was hoping he might stay for another season. Especially when I discoverd the off-field work he was doing with PCYC. A fair few higher paid players could learn a thing or two from the bushranger.

Pretty much Morley and Cayless like every Easts fan.

More recently, i was disappointed to see Joel Monaghan go. Having missed 2006 with that knee injury you would of thought he would have payed us back by extending a season longer, but atleast he went back home to Canberra. He was playing awesome footy and scoring tries for fun in the latter stages of 2007 and he would of flourished if he stayed on in 2008 given how many tries we scored off kicks!

Yeah, just when he was coming good we lost him.

I was sad when Brandy and MG both left Penrith, but it was understandable at the time. Glad they both finished their careers in Penrith colours.

Was also very disappointed to see Shane Elford and Paul Whatuira go after 2003.

And in recent times, Presto was a great loss but he was always going back to Qld if the Titans got in, so that was no surprise.

And it was the end of a great era last year to say goodbye to Priddo, Big T, and Wesser.

Every time a player leaves the club you're disappointed and hope they don't play too well at another club, but then the door always opens for new exciting juniors like Lachlan Coote and Michael Jennings.

Devo when Schifcofske left Canberra for Rugby. He was my fave player and our captain and chose to invoke a get-out clause because Matt Elliott was leaving... a proud captain of a club doesn't bail mid-way thru a contract to play for the struggling QLD reds for similar $$$. Still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
