you guys are missing one things.
What if this is a huge stitch up?
Certainly possible. I said last night that the whole tape should be made available to hear the context of the conversation. I think the 'spank me' remark was made in jest. I agree that Hall's credibility is highly questionable.
But, the reality is:
(1) The circumstances leave very little to the imagination. Him hitting her is not in dispute. They were in the middle of a workplace conciliation and he was fooling around. Honestly, if he shows such a lack of concentration & application, and a general disregard to the task at hand when he is dealing with staff, what confidence does it give you when he met with LG? With the next potential major sponsor? With land developers? With the NRL?
(2) The moment the CA was signed, that should of been it. But the club is weak in legally standing up for itself, and killing stories.
(3) He hasn't done enough to dispute the allegations. He never did it with the Johns affair, and he hasn't done it for himself. In regards to every 'exclusive' story that goes the print, the journos always consult the parties involved. It doesn't change the slant of the article, but it changes it nonetheless. Even Magnay does it, and yet she stated in her articles that Zappia didn't respond or dodged the question. Zappia knew before yesterday that 7 would be going forward with that story.
He knew it was simmering away but failed to nip it in the bud. His poor performance ensured that the smoke never truly cleared and he ultimately left himself wide open for attack.
That said, it is important to note the supposed existence of a CA. On past events of legal nature with out club, this quite simply isn't worth the paper it is written on. I don't think this club has succeeded in, nor enforced any legal dispute in its 5 decades of existence. Fighting it would be a fruitless move at this stage, and Hall knows that this club would never enforce it legally. Especially with channel seven in her corner now.
