Setaimata Sa detained by police after running riot at hotel
Will Swanton | August 31, 2009 - 8:33AM

Another National Rugby League player has fallen foul of the law.

The Herald can reveal Roosters star Setaimata Sa was detained by police last night after he allegedly ran riot at a Sydney hotel after being refused entry for being too drunk.

He still made his way into the hotel, where he resisted police and needed to be physically restrained before being taken away.

Police said that Sa, a New Zealand international player, has been charged with assault, resisting arrest, malicious damage and failure to leave a licenced premises.

They told the Herald Sa was taken to Maroubra police station last night at about 10pm and will appear at Waverley Local Court on September 23.

Roosters chief executive Steve Noyce confirmed he had been made aware of the incident and would launch a full investigation today.

The incident will threaten Sa's league future, being the latest instalment in the Roosters' year of shame.

The most recent had been Roosters forward Nate Myles being suspended for six weeks over his drunken behaviour at a Central Coast hotel, where he defecated in a hotel corridor on a Sunday morning after attending a junior rugby league function. The Roosters club has been fined $50,000 because of the number of alcohol-related incidents that have affected the club this season.

Coach Brad Fittler fined himself $10,000 after being found drunk and shirtless and attempting to enter someone else's hotel room in Townsville.

LOL this is just unbelievable. How do these dickheads keep it up so regularly? It almost seems as if there is some incident once a fortnight.

Most Roosters fans are overjoyed at this news.. Now we can terminate this oxygen thiefs $250K + a year contract.. This will nicely free up some serious cash now...

I don't think that Syndey will be all that disappointed as now they have grounds to tear up his contract.
