All these options, but is Princes Park an option. I mean arent they based there still?

Princes Park is a turd of a ground.

Princes Park is worse than Olympic Park...the seats are rotten planks of wood !!.

Too right. No NRL game should ever be played there ever again.

Play it on AFL GF night...the crowd will be big and bloody rowdy !!!.

Gonna be a big day, hit a pub in the city to watch the GF, then head off to the upstairs bar at Etihad (The one with the huge window behind the post) to watch the juniors game, then out to seats for the NRL game.

I agree Kia Ora, and if it is agaisnt the Broncs, 50k is acheivable IMO.

Also if it is a Storm-Broncs game then AFL GF will receive less coverage NOTM :D.

No good options..
Saturday is still AFL Grand Final day, that won't help with crowds I would imagine.
Moving it so Sydney would get no crowd.
Moving it to Brisbane will get you 52,000 Brisbane supports and 2 Melbourne ones.

Sunday an option?

Bullsh*t. You reckon the Dragons won't jag a 45k+ crowd for a prelim final in Sydney?

Seeing as though the NRL is suddenly dead againsty home finals, move it to the SFS. Stuff Brisbane. They will get flogged next week anyway.

Haha, that was refering to if they were playing Brisbane. If they were playing St George at Suncorp they would also get no crowd.

50k achievable?

anyone who thinks the storm will get over 30k to the prelim on the same day as the afl grand final is dreaming. they'll be lucky to get 25,000

how far away is Etihad from the MCG??

perhaps the NRL and the Storm could sort out some sort of deal with free transport from the AFL GF to Etihad...

Whilst I dont think it should be moved, the dragons have a big supporter base in Brisbane.

Just wait till you see the game on sat night , there will be heaps of red and white there.

Or even try to convert a few people and have the AFL on the big screens for people wishing to buy a ticket to the Storm game. They'd be a foolish man to pay $40 to watch a game on TV and then go home.

50k would be tremendous, I'd be aiming for 40's - Anything higher is cream.

Delusions. AFL GF is going to have a team shooting for their first premiership in 40/55 years V either a team shooting for 'greatness' or Collingwood. Zero chance of the AFL game getting less coverage due to the NRL GFQ.

What it does do is ensure RL has a good amount of promotion during the week. I can already see the News Ltd media running with 'home of sport' stuff during the week. The Storm will get a huge push.

Ridiculous assumption. Brisbane would turn out to support an NRL GFQ no matter who the combatants were.

Here's the simple solution.

Move it to Sunday afternoon. Why the f**k dont we have Sunday afternoon football in both weeks 2 and 3?

At least one tram runs directly between the 'G & Eithad. You can also jump on the train @ either Richmond or Jolimont/Two stations trip. Though if Collingwood made the GF I'd be avoiding Jolimont like the plauge - There would be an extreme amount of super f**ktards going through there lol

I thought we played Parramatta at Etihad on GF day a couple of years back? Pulled 30k?

Perhaps the NRL could do a deal with Etihad and the MCG. If someone has a AFL GF ticket, they get free access to the Storm GFQ. Thats potientially 100,000 people, so first come first serve.

From memory that was the year the GF's fell on the same w/e - Labour Day was 1st/2nd October

The Parra GFQ was played on the same day as the VFL GF - I remember because I watched RIchmond's reserves get pummelled on the screens @ Crown before I headed up to Etihad to watch the Melbourne Parra game

.

NOTM means north of the murray.

If Brisbane makes it the care factor in Brisabne for the AFL GF will be nil and if the Dragons make it, combined with an Eels-Doggies QF the care factor in NSW will be less then nil.

So no delusions here.

Oh well how the f**k am I supposed to know that

With 4 Victorian sides left, I'd suggest regardless of who makes the NRL last 4 AFL GF interest north of the murray will be f**k all

The VFL grand final is scheduled for Friday the 25th @ Etihad, which I understand is the same night as when the Storm were due to play their prelim final at the same ground.

What will the NRL do about this? Will they move it to Saturday night? Will they move it to Sydney or Brisbane?

Thoughts?

Move it to Sunday. They drew 31000 against the Eels 2 years ago. Playing it on the night of the AFL GF where everyone in town will be drunk after GF BBQs will be ridiculous.

I'm sure St George & Broncos fans will love flying to Melbourne with exorbitant airfares & bugger all chance of finding a hotel this side of Geelong as well.

Play it at 4pm on Sunday & then Channel 9 can go straight into the news, in BOTH Sydney AND Melbourne!
