Good to see it's not half Leeds + half St Helens + a few others again. Is this a result of the salary cap finally kicking in and redistributing the talent throughout the comp or is this a reaction to the mess they had last year?

England are going to need their forward back to absolutely dominate to even come close.

I think they will come closer to Australia than in the WC but they have a very small chance of winning.

Although once you make a prediction like that you always end up with egg on your face:lol:

1. Lee Smith if we're going to play him
2. Peter Fox (Tom Briscoe)
3. Chris Bridge
4. Michael Shenton
5. Ryan Hall
6. Danny McGuire
7. Richard Myler (Danny Brough)
8. Adrian Morley
9. James Roby (Matt Diskin)
10. Jamie Peacock (c)
11. Gareth Ellis
12. Sam Burgess
13. Sean O’Loughlin

14. Kyle Eastmond
15. James Graham
16. Eorl Crabtree
17. Garreth Carvell

That would be my team with the players I'd prefer in brackets.

You know, before the World Cup, I was predicting England to play Aus in the final. I thought they were the biggest threat to Australia and New Zealand were no hope. I look at this England side and it appears weaker because of its youth, but I just feel that England finaly have a set of players coming through to challenge Australia, really. Its just a shame (for England) that Australia has produced probably its best backline in 20 years if not 30.

But despite all that, England just appear that they are getting ready to win a tournament and Australia appear ready to lose. Which is a good thing (for everyone except Australia).

If there was ever a chance for England to win a tournament, this is their best chance in 15 years.

This is one of the things that really bothers me when people criticize our international game and talk up the likes of union and cricket.

The NRL produces FAR FAR more talented players than either union or cricket, especially union. The Australian team for league is almost certainly our most talented sporting team.

So true. The Aussie cricket team with Gillie, Warnie, McGrath etc was celebrated as a great sporting team but the Kangaroos don't seem to get the same recognition.

Would have prefered to have Burrow and Myler in the squad, Diskin instead or Moore and Owen or Briscoe instead of Fox. I think Fox could be a weak link in defense and would have prefered Owen or Briscoe because they are young, tall and capable under the high ball.

2. Fox
3. Shenton
4. Smith
5. Hall
6. McGuire
7. Myler

theres no way in the world burgess will start on the bench

I wouldn't be so sure. Funny that is the first time I've picked him there, I seem to change my mind every time. Swap him and O'Loughlin and I'll be happy.
