I really think Lockyer will be reluctant to go back to fullback to accomodate Smith. His loss of speed over the years will be shown up there.

Plenty of decent young players for the Broncos to field Lockyer in the halves - Copley, Hoffman, Beale and Kemp will get first choice. The Broncos may just have to learn to live with Steve Michaels in the centres....

AN ankle injury threatens to sideline star Broncos centre Justin Hodges for most of the NRL season, including the State of Origin series. The powerful international tore his Achilles tendon down at Broncos pre-season training. He will have an operation on Wednesday night and could be out of football for six months.
The NRL season starts on March 12 when the Broncos will play the Cowboys at Suncorp Stadium.
