From broncos.com.au

1. Corey Norman
2. Denan Kemp
3. Israel Folau
4. Alex Glenn
5. Steve Michaels
6. Ben Hunt
7. Tim Smith
8. Nick Kenny
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Ashton Sims
11. Lagi Setu
12. Sam Thaiday
13. Corey Parker
Interchange
14. Scott Anderson
15. Ben Te’o
16. Josh McGuire
17. Gerard Beale
18. Matt Gillett

The big surprise has to be Norman at fullback! Is he a realistic chance of being there round 1? There was so much talk of Hoffman/Beale/Kemp/Copely/Lockyer etc and now suddenly Norman!

He's the only reasonable option not injured or coming back from injury.

Yes Hoffman is injured, but it's much the opposite of Norman. I've heard he's been outshining Hoffman but he's smaller than Hoff which is why Hoff is the lead runner.

Yeah I was surprised to see Norman at fullback given the availability of Beale. I wonder what the go is exactly?

I can't really say much else on the side. It looks solid, hope Setu starts firing.

I think if Norman can handle the defensive positioning and taking kicks then he would be our best choice for fullback if we want to get a player as similar to Hunt as possible as he is a 5/8 which I think is what Ivan wants to do. That might be why he is getting a shot at fullback.

Yes your theory is as good as mine although it leaves me concerned. Henjak should be looking to implement a new style of attack instead of looking for an inferior version of Hunt.

Maybe inferior in the fullback department but superior in the 2nd 5-8 department???

Of the 20's games I watched last year (which wasn't many to be honest), Norman outplayed Hunt. Not that this really has any relevance to Norman playing fullback.

I suspect you only caught the games on television? Hunt was good when he first came back into the competition. By the back end though, he started going down hill.

As far as back-up for Lockyer. I'd say he's behind Smith who will slot into halfback while Wallace will go to five eigth, a role that isn't too foreign to him given he plays a lot of second receiver at the Broncos.

yeah you caught me, I've only seen the TV games plus some second half action for the games I went to. The final game against Melbourne stuck out for me. Hunt was close to useless and Norman was dangerous.

I would suggest you are correct with your assessment on Tim Smith.

I don't know, K Hunt was a great player and all, but certainly not the be all and end all. Don't get me wrong tho, I would love to still have him in my team. But by the end there were several fullbacks ahead of him, Slater, Hayne, Boyd, maybe even Dugan. Surely we can find someone...

Thought Kemp would be a given a go at fullback, the one game I saw him there was the best I've seen in FG from him.

Was that in 2007?

Because in 2008 he was far better on the wing combining with Lockyer.

Also, any idea on how your squad will line up?

GTB, I suspected as much but I can't blame you, we had far too many Friday night games which made it nearly impossible for the average Broncos fan to catch any of the Toyota Cup boys.

Norman certainly outshone Ben Hunt at the back end of the season and I'm very impressed to hear about his latest batch of good form. However, I'd hate to see him moulded into Karmichael Hunt. Ivan should let the boy develop his own natural game and implement a new attacking structure to suit his side, not just rely on old tactics that are seemingly out-dated without it's vital cog.

Yea was 07, didn't see much of the Broncos game in 08 but yes he was effective on the wing. Still feel he can do the job at fullback with Hunt gone.

We will probably rotate our team a fair bit. Probably will start the game with our full strength side and interchange the other guys.

Norman, Folau and Kemp were all very impressive. Seeing Kemp on the wing makes me think he should stay there. He diffused a couple try attempts with a good catch and a good tackle, he also made a couple of good runs. Michaels did one good thing where he tapped on bomb back to another player to score a try. Didn't earn back his position though imo.

Tim Smith hurt his leg, not sure how bad but he looked in a fair bit of pain. I wasn't impressed much with Ben Hunt :(.

All in all a pretty good effort to win without Wallace and Lockyer (amongst others). Canberra really should have won given how many penalties they got, ridiculous!
