There is an interesting article in this weeks RLW.

Titled "Gummy Sharks"

It's in reference to our dramatic drop in tries scored.

Anyone care to add the relevent coaches name to each year?

Our try scoring record since the year 2000.

2000 - 105 tries

2001 - 119 tries

2002 - 132 tries

2003 - 92 tries

2004 - 96 tries

2005 - 103 tries

2006 - 88 tries

2007 - 77 tries

2008 - 82 tries

2009 - 64 tries

Like others on here I cannot count 2009. There were just too many variables to properly assess Stuart.

2007 - Stuart's first year, tries scored and tries conceded both fell but the ratio was better than in 2006 and least we were scoring more than we were letting in.

2008 - Stuart's 2nd year, tries scored and tries conceded both improved from 2007.

I for one will see how it pans out this year before going hard at stuart. Another point that shouldn't be lost is that regardless of what you think of stuart's recruitment/retention he is not able (because of sharks financial position) get the same cattle at the moment as other clubs.

(just noticed the tries listed by RLW includes finals games - for comparisons I don't think they should have. So in 2005 tries scored in regular season were 99 and 2008 tries scored were 75. So Stuart's 2nd year saw a reduction in tries scored by 2 from 2007 and a reduction in tries conceded by 4.)

2004 - 96 tries 117 against

2005 - 99 tries 97 against

2006 - 88 tries 96 against

2007 - 77 tries 71 against

2008 - 75 tries 67 against

2009 - 64 tries 100 against

he want helped by losing his best player to glass. the halfback he was thinking of playing with barrett to the booze. the guy who replaced the glass man to steroids......

also. the 2 refs cannot be ignored as a contributing factor in our inability to grind out wins last year. game was changed. we could no longer "cheat"

no coach in the league is as talented in coaching the natural attacking ability out of a player ...

and some people here still rate Stuart. FFS!!
I think he is one of, if not the best defensive coach in the game. But has always needed help with attack.
The fact he took our squad to equal first in 2008 is a testament to that.
Last year was a write off, no doubt about it, but it would've been the same write off for any team in our shoes.

The game has evolved (even in the last 2 years) and he has not evolved with it. His stubborn nature also doesn't help when others try to help.
