100 more signed up today.. as well as that, they've witnessed a large growth in merchandise sales

Caps and jerseys are re-stocking as a result of large demand.

Some boofhead marketing guy a couple of days ago said the Storm brand was dead and that they needed to re-brand the club.

From the reaction I've heard in Melb - I don't think so. It's the Storm or nothing.

so basically f**k the other sides that have let talent go and let you keep the squad together?

Nah, I reckon everyone should be able to keep about 40%- 50% of a team together for the majority of there careers.

The punishments have been harsh enough.

If it was good enough for the Dogs in 2002 then it's good enough for the Storm this year, unless they want to strip the Dogs of their 2004 premiership.

What pisses me off is that Gallop seems so intent on breaking up the team for next year.

If this guy is serious about selling RL into Melbourne then trying to force these guys elsewhere would be a disaster. Enough damage has been done. It appears the NRL is keen to let that damage continue into the future until the club is killed off.

If they want to play for less money to remain under the cap then so be it. They've already been punished enough.

I'm loving the passion of these Melbourne people for their RL club on SEN tonight.

A guy just called in to say he's cancelled his studies overseas to stay at home this year and support the team he loves. You could hear the emotion in his voice.

I don't agree with all the Gallop hate and I think he and the NRL made the right decision. However, I agree with you that stopping them from cutting their salaries to adhere to the cap is stupid.

I see it as pointless. They've been punished by taking their 5 titles, they've been fined, and they're basically disqualified from this year's competition. Surely, if they can fit everyone under next year then the league should be content.

I agree that they shouldn't be able to cut salaries this year because some team's have already been disadvantaged - but next year will be the first season where they'll start clean and they should be allowed to get under the cap anyway they can.

Gallop is hated down here by Melbourne Fans for most of hes CEO tenure. Die hard fan here are insomniacs(for more than 12 years) on a Friday Night or should i say Saturday morning however the coverage supposed to start at midnight but does not start till quarter past or even half past.

The hatred for Gallop was there but now the NRL has put the fuel on the fire and hope David Gallop resigns. I have wanted hes blood since he sold us out with the media rights.

Bring on the one RL national board. The true split is not the News Ltd and ARL. That finished in 1997 however the split now is the NSWRL and QRL and all the associated states RL coming in to decide on how to run the game.

OK. Parra will buy Thurston, Watmough, Jennings and SBW, ring up Gallop and say - "Gee we overspent by $1 million" - lose all their points for 2010, but win the next 3 straight.

I could not bear for my club to endure such hardship.

Stop being a Storm apologist and wake up Brutus.

Yeah, like the Storm bought Cronk, Inglis, Slater and Smith.

If these guys want to stay at the friggin club they've been at since kids then they should be allowed to if they take the appropriate pay cuts.

Some of you guys want blood. It seems no punishment is harsh enough.

Yes, the Storm DID buy Cronk, Inglis, Slater and Smith - did you think they all grew up in friggin Toorak?????

Funny how they wanna take pay cuts now. Staying at the club they were at "since they were kids" *cough* was real important when they held the club to ransom for the extra speedboat, the $20k in electrical gear, the house reno's, the car, the extra $100k cash..........

Your precious overpaid merkins cannot be touched, but you'd happily punt Cronulla.

Which RL club did the Storm but Inglis, Cronk and Slater come from? I am happy to give you Smith just because he had a bronco scholarship which he did not progress thru the ranks which was the decision of the broncos

F*ck off rorter. You apologised yet for your part in the sham? Or are you still crying that Inglis might have to give up ownership of the QEII.

When you pinched Inglis from Bowraville, did you think he was a junior? Or is that how you claim he was a junior?

You know the story. I don't have to tell you where they came from and which club turned these young unknowns into stars.

Compare this situation to your silly hypothetical Parra analogy.
