"The players knew nothing" starting to wear thin....

You melbourne fans are too one-eyed. Theres zero chance that all of the players didnt know. That excuse is just getting credit coz the nrl is so hellbent on keeping a team in melbourne and if they discover the players knew, then half the aussie league team would have to banned from the game
So basically, even if theyre proven innocent, youve made your mind up theyre guilty?

At least 8 teams have come out and admitted they can afford to pay more including your own club. Only a braindead fool would run a comptetion to protect the worse teams.
Um, if you don't protect the worse (off financial) teams, then your competition shrinks. This would have massive impacts on the broadcasting deals (less games per week) and hence the money that goes a long way to funding our clubs to get close to the existing cap.

Just because 8 teams can afford more than the current cap, doesn't mean they start doing that and systematically rorting the rules. Only one of these eight teams has currently been found to have done that... and that's the Melbourne Illegals.

Where does this equalising funding for the other 8 teams come from?. The salary cap's not there to piss people off, it's there for a very good reason.

Got the perfect solution. We remove the salary cap, and Storm's $13 million annual funding.

Inglis, Slater and Smith will love it in Bondi.

One thing that has amused me is that some of the Melbourne fans saying the coach would no nothing at all about finer contract details were the same jumping up and down about the evil Brian Smith trying to screw over Kirk Reynoldson by not playing him in enough games to activate the automatic renewal

Its actually not a good point and only halfwits would see it as such. Smithy would have known because, and read closely here, a Knights official would have filled him in on the whole scenario. So unless you think Waldron let Bellamy in on the shenanigans its a foolish statement.

Actually, I find that easier to believe than Bellamy just telling Waldron who to sign, and never talking about what amounts to sign them for. Or Bellamy never sitting down with Waldron and going through the salary structure of the squad while discussion retentions and recruitments (and the amounts that would be paid).

I guess it will all come out in the wash... meanwhile the Melbourne Illegals are still over the cap because no players have left.

When the audits over finally anybody think weel ever know who got what $s above their contract entitlements..?
dont need to know what their contracts were worth..but how much the rorting players or suposed rorting players received that they wernt entitled to. Will the audit have discovered this info when its done>? or would Waldron have to open up? Names would be nice with how much...wouldnt mind betting theres a few players in Melbourne still playin there that would also like to know. and some that are sh*tting emselves.

STUNNING new revelations emerged last night that Melbourne Storm officials secretly paid skipper Cameron Smith $60,000 to renovate his home as part of a deal outside of his NRL contract.

....

The Daily Telegraph can also reveal that at least two players signatures have been found on two separate contracts, challenging some players' claims that they knew nothing about the existence of multiple contracts.
