They (the donkeys) were certainly hoping that he would reconsider his signing the week before he came down to us. They were screaming for him.

He was probably 3rd in line, behind Wallace and Ben Hunt. Sure they would have kept him for peanuts!!! IMO, he is only a marginal improvement on SFP.
We are under the cap. The imposter Barrett is likely to retire. Lets use the money wisely. Bulldogs are probably spent up,Dragons will be with Gasnier. Cowboys with Thurston etc If Slater and Inglis want to stay in the NRL they have few options (so we even come into the equation). Probably, the Storm team will take voluntary pay cuts to remain together. (I cant see that being illegal, despite what the NRL say). Would be ironical if they sued the NRL and won!!
Slater is very marketable and does a lot of his best work alone.
It is too depressing to continually being linked with the likes of Daniel Fitzhenry.
We cant have many players worthy of upgrading. (except Snowden). There has to be some money somewhere for a decent player!!! We have less quality players than any other side in the NRL (Raiders included). Its time for a change. Tim Smith is second tier. We deserve top notch. David Peachey had very few rep appearances, yet he looked like Messenger/Slater and Mullins rolled into one compared with the current crop of crap.
To think Best and Howland were bit part players not that long ago!!! What the hell happened?
