Spain have controlled possession in most of their games, but their attack wavers, however they got it right in the first 30mins of the second half in the Portugal game, if they play that way I can't see Paraguay winning this. Paraguay have done well to get this far but they just lack the attacking impetus to challenge these big teams, I see Spain winning this by a couple.

Thoughts....

I can't see Paraguay scoring against Spain. Spain only need 1 goal but I think they'll score a couple or three.

Ugh Torres' movement off the ball looks terrible atm. Might be another short night for him

Like the way Paraguay are pressing atm.

Spain take off Torres and bring on Fabregas. Interesting move.

Wow what a penalty save from Casillas. Has turning point written all over it

Well that is amazing. Spain get a penalty just a minute after Paraguay got one. Alonso scores it. But then the ref tells him to take it again since some Spain players had encroached the area. On his second attempt the keeper saves it.

Game should turn up now. Good stuff

Germany have certainly been the more impressive of the two. Will be interesting to see what Spain do with Torres. Imo they should drop him to the bench and give Villa a more central role. Only problem with that is that it tends to push Iniesta into a wider role, which limits his game.

This whole playing him into match fitness clearly isn't working for Torres. Maybe he'd be more suited to coming off the bench at say the 60 min mark or so?

I nearly had heart failure watching that game. As soon as that penalty was given, I was thinking PIQUE WHAT THE F*** WERE YOU THINKING??? Casillas, deadset champion. Saved the penalty, and I'm not sure how many people saw it, but saved a certain goal in the dying minutes of the game. He IMO is the best goalie in the world ATM... light years ahead of Buffon! He is the reason why Spain will be playing Germany, and not Paraguay. Villa's goal was awesome, but as Ridders said, it was all Iniesta. Great movement and control of the ball. The ball hit the post a total of 3 times in the 2 strikes taken. Gosh I love being a Spain supporter right now.

Sadly though, Germany will probably put us to sleep :(

Casillas is a champion. I have no idea why he can't excel at club level the way he does at international level. At the rate he plays, you'd think that he's part of the Barcelona roster  I suppose it helps though having 2 of the best defenders in the world helping you at the back (Puyol and Pique)... and yes I'm aware of Pique's blunder a mere 13 hours ago.
Torres needs to be benched. I'd also drop Xabi Alonso for Fabregas.
I second that. Xabi had one of his worst performances of the tournament so far. In fairness to him though, he put the penalty away comfortably before he was forced to take it again :(

What would be worrying from a Spanish perspective was Puyol's lack of speed being constantly exposed by Valdez. There were times during the game when Valdez was running rings around him.

Wont get any better for Puyol next game coming up against an extremely pacy German attack.

Puyol's getting on man. 32 years of age. This will be his last World Cup (possibly last international appearance). He was always going to appear slower against the younger forwards coming through.
