Captain admits Eels in crisis
July 05, 2010
FIVE defeats in six games, a total of 42 points scored in its past five outings, Parramatta is a club in crisis, admits skipper Nathan Cayless.
An early favourite to win the NRL grand final after a stunning second half to the 2009 campaign, the Eels looked a shoo-in for a top-four spot.
But after yesterday's 35-6 defeat by the Warriors, they are down in 10th spot, four points outside the top eight.
''We're probably a club that has about three or four crises every year,'' said Cayless. ''It's just part of the game and it's our turn at the moment. If we get a couple of wins it will be someone else's turn to be in crisis.''
Although Eels fans will take heart from the club's late run to last year's grand final, Cayless warned against expecting a repeat performance.
''Last year was last year, it's totally different this year,'' he said.
