Webke runs it up, offloads to Tallis who offloads to Langer, who passes to Lockyer, who slips it to Renouf, who chips to Mundine, who passes it to Sailor who throws it over his head to Tuqiri who scores!

I thought it was more interesting when MG was making a point about how the game is treating Victorian fans like leppers due to not showing games until after midnight, Vossy steps in and promptly changes the subject with an "anyway..."

Guess some subjects are taboo on channel 9

What a silly statement... Wives employed by various companies (associated with teh Broncos and/or Thoroughbred members) on $100k salaries as cleaners don't count towards teh salary cap.

if a club can earn $20mill+ it is ridiculous to restrict their spending to $5mill because some clubs struggle to make 10. Talk about dragging your game down to the lowest denominator!

which is what teh salary cap unfortunately does to protect the weaker clubs liek the sharks.

what gould of course doesnt state is that with those winning broncos teams a majority of players were juniors developed by the broncos....

So if Phil has some evidence of rorting by the Broncos or any other club why doesn't he either expose it on the Footy show or talk to the NRL or Fairfax about it ?

If my memory is correct. Documents were found during the Super League
court case confirmed the Brisbane Broncos had been cheating the salary cap for numerous years.

Gus talks sense about football, during 80 minutes about what's happening on the field
Gus talks rubbish about the administration of a football code.

Of course they were cheating the cap. Just like the Roosters have done in the past. And several other clubs I'm sure (probably mine too, not counting the two years we were allowed to overspend as a reward for merging). The difference is Melbourne and Canterbury were caught, and their cheating was massive and systematic. Even then, the NRL probably wouldn't have caught them without the aid of a whistle-blower.

A little bit too late to be chasing the Broncos up now.

Gus seems full of sh*t in general, about on field or off-field stuff. All voice, little substance. This year he's getting looser and looser, the ravings of a mad man, or the effect of too many tackles?

A bitter agenda-laden man who is given too much airtime imo.

Inglis, Cronk, Slater and Smith were all taken from the QLD Cup (thousands of km's away from Melbourne) so there goes David Gallops argument about unfair catchments for teams like Canberra etc (who are now affiliated with Logan).

Inglis was signed by the Storm when playing footy in Newcastle, and continued to play for Hunter Sports High and Wests Rosellas (in the Newcastle local comp) until he fell in with the wrong sort of people and the Storm moved him to Brisbane, and linked him up with their feeder club at the time, Norths.

I think I read in an article about Slater a week or two ago that he drove down to Brisbane (from Innisfail) to trial for Norths...and then the rest is history. There may be a little more to this story, but I think it was fortunate for the Storm that Slater showed his potential in the coming years right under their noses.

Edit: I just hit up the wiki page for Slater and I think I was reading it :p and that part in particular is unsourced so it potentially could be a load of rubbish.

Not sure about Cronk and Smith, though I know Smith is from Logan.
