The difference is the people saying we should keep Thommo would be thinking at around 100k, whereas White will cost us at least 200k. Given that discrepancy I'd prefer Thommo, especially now we have about a quarter of our cap going towards props.

Thommo probably wouldn't accept 100k looking at media reports though.

Yep, thats my contention Eda. I think we'd have paid a bit more for White than 200k. I dont think we were the only club interested in him, and I have to think that he isn't worth above 200k. Anyway, we are 95% of the way there with our team, just need another option at halfback and I'll be incredibly happy.

Thommo has been told his services are not required , he apparently said that he could do Whites job and cheaper.

This has p*ssed me off.

both carney and thompson should have been re-signed.

white is just a complete waste of cap space. I'd prefer to see a sl or under 20's guy given a shot instead of this grub.

J.Carney left because he is a money hungry grub who followed and extra buck fifty to the Roosters... Thompson, as has been said, is a good guy but White with Furner coaching could be the final thing we need for our forward pack next year... Remember Logan is most likely gone at the end of this season and White fills Logan's shoes nicely...

Oh and as for stats... "Stats" wise we should beat the Storm by 200 points... Look at the stats difference on NRL.com. That is not going to happen however so stats mean sh*t as they don't paint the full picture... Stats wise I think Mogg is better per game than Inglis but, even though I like Mogg, I would certainly trade him for Inglis...

canberra could have easily matched the roosters offer and re-signed him.

the forward pack is already as good as it needs to be. The teams problem hasn't been getting the ball down the field, it's been converting from those opportunites. As Thompson said himself, he can do what brett white does except cheaper.

It's 50/50 imo whether he will play on for more year. Logan is a better player than brett 'the cat' white by mile so don't even try to compare them.

White is balls. You guys could/should have done a lot better than this lazy f**k when looking for someone to throw your money at. And dont think for a second that hes coming cheap, given hes played origin for a few years (poorly) you can expect his contract to be closer to 250k+

Why should we have?

He's played like 2 games in the last two years. Yes he was injured, but he wanted a massively inflated contract for his fieldtime.

He wanted a top tier deal and why should we give it to him with the depth we have? Even fully fit he doesn't break into our three-quarter line at the moment.

If Logan stays i wouldnt have White in the 17

Shillo > TLL > Tilse > Logan >>>>>. White.

but they will and it will have nothing to do with form

show me this depth. It's not as great as people assume.

carney would absolutely kill it as a bench impact/backrower.

Again, he picked money over the club, it's not like we were offering him sh*t, he has signed with the roosters so he is lucky if he gets a bench spot for South Logan, no way I want to see him in first grade unless we really really really have to put him there... As in the only other alternative is Kelly...

And again, I think White will improve under Furner... Shillo, TLL, Tilse, they have all been improving and that certainly wasn't the direction they were going a couple of years back...

Hahaha, surely you jest?

As a backrower?

Learoyd-Lahrs, Harrison, Thurling, Miller, Fensom, Tongue, Picker, Mataora...

Tell me how he fits in there?

I was referring to the backline depth, but I'd put him on the bench with thurling, miller + prop. Picker, Tongue and Mataora wouldn't make the side.

Tongue should sit a week or so in SL until he is back to match fitness but no way do we not have him in the side... And you really need two props on the bench...

Also what's wrong with Picker? He has been playing well...

I would drop Tilse for Mataora on Tilse's current effort.... Oh and Buttriss... Why bother? I'm guessing he is a utility...
