Hats off to the Rorters for having the balls to sign Carney. The gamble is paying off in droves. I'm a bit non-plussed as to why we didn't make a play for him, though we probably would have had to punt Hornby to England to sign him.

Be interesting to see how the Roosters on-song attack goes against a team prepared to muscle up. Our defence has remained top-notch over the last month, and I have no reason to suspect that won't continue. But for us to have any hope of winning, rather than losing another game 12-10 or some similar scoreline, we need to discover a bit of adventure with the ball, like we did in the last 10 against the donkeys once the game was gone.

This is the contest we've been waiting for.

I don't know about you guys, but I knew last weeks contest wouldn't live up to the hype. Both sides were down on confidence and in the Dragons case down on troops.

With Michael Weyman and Dean Young back and the Roosters the form team in the competition I can see this game becoming one of the MotY candidates.

This game reminds me so much of the Dragons/Storm clash last year where St. George ran away to an impressive victory against an out of sorts Storm side. That night, the Dragons played as if it was their grand final and afterwards...it showed, they never played as well again.

I can see the Roosters replicating that performance, while the Dragons will use it as a chance to blow out all the cobwebs.

Jason - Was a nice gesture congratulating the Roosters but c'mon man signing one of the most promising half prospects as soon as he was available to what I would imagine would be an a reasonable contract isn't ballsy, it's just smart.

And just on the topic of ballsy signings, I'd probably give the Tigers the award signing Lote Tuqiri to a marquee contract after 8 years away from the game and no preseason to compensate.

Best of luck guys.

Thanks Pete, but I still think it was a ballsy signing given Carney's well-known off-field issues. There was always a risk that what happened at Canberra would be repeated.

It wasn't as if he was on big money though, so I don't really see the difference between signing a player like him or Arana Taumata.

Nathan Fien looks set to play.
The Illawarra Mercury newspaper today has stated that he is likely to get the nod ahead of Priddis. Young is still in doubt though.

Fien's kicking from dummy half, both short & long kicks have been something we have been missing all year....along with everything else he brings us.

Fein in, will give the Dragons some much needed spark.
Still, even with Roy Orbison out, it will be an amazing game.
For the first time in a few years, we will put in an eighty minute performance.

Well thats not true, since having our first worthwhile coach in years we've been mostly good for a whole game. The Brisbane game is the only one that stands out recently

This is going to be a ripper of a game...Roosters will have to defend strongly and take it to the Dragons forwards in the ruck.

This is also a chance for Warea-Hargraves to show his potential. He is prone to giving away penalties though and just needs to refine his tackling technique.

We will also see what Soward is made of...this is a finals type game and he needs to stand up and get his kicking game in order and use his backline when the game is on the line.

Anzac Day 2nd half vs us?

That actually didn't bother me as much as the corresponding game last year. We were on top for 50 minutes or so but most of the time Dragons had the majority of the field position (mainly due to our poor discipline) and we eventually gave in. I didn't feel like they just gave up like they were guilty of so many times in 08 and 09
