18 errors and 7 penalties - that's 25 gifted possessions to the Dragons.

Dragons 56% possession.

Plus Linnett going off injured early.

So the question is, how on earth were we only 1 point behind with 2 minutes to go? We should have been absolutely slaughtered based on those stats.

So if anything this gives me more confidence knowing that we have the grit and determination to hang in there when we're playing awful, stuck in our own half and have absolutely no possession.

10 errors and 6 penalties the other way make that stat seem far more reasonable trimming the gifted tag to a difference of just 9 every side makes errors and the dragons have made a statement for the last few years about making as few as possible i

f i was a roosters fan i would be far more worried about
36 missed tackles
conceding 8 linebreaks
and conceding 1500 metres against 1000 metres made this for mine is the most important stat to take from today

Played pretty terribly but can still take a lot out of that. Right down to the SKD fail it could have gone either way. Good game Dragons, hopefully we'll meet again in October.

Friday's match against the Sharks is now a massive danger game for us.

It'll be hard to get up after that bruiser on a short turn-around. Especially against the sort of team that we've not turned up against earlier this season.

Win lose or draw in that game, i was stoked to see a return to form from our mob. Weyman was exceptional, and Fiens return really gives us some much needed speed and skill. Costigan again, so sad this guy is leaving.

Thought the Roosters did fantastic to hang in there right to the end, well played. Was angry with our last tackle options when we had the Roosters pinned down, Hornby really lacks composure and id expect more form our captain.

The Roosters could hardly have played worse. This match only really reinforced that the Dragons just aren't quite good enough.

On the Dragons, a typically excellent defensive effort saw them win the match. I still don't rate their attack and I don't think they do either. Watching a top team go for the penalty goal when they have the opposition on the back foot is simply frustrated.

Soward got what he deserved when his first one bounced off the posts. Gutless player imo. Do not rate him at all.

That said, well played Dragons. I only wish Sean Kenny Downs would learn how to pass. fkin idjit.

The roosters were very average , so much cheap turnover and silly play ,doesnt say much for the dragons either because they werent much better a side. The general standard of play really is noticeably lower than previous years .... On the roosters it could be telling that Ryles and Kenny dope were back to their old dopey selves. They will be a liability come finals time.

The roosters couldn't afford to slip there. No idea what was going through SKD's mind and the knock on from Ryles from the kick-off pretty much topped it off. A brave performance but simply not good enough and far from what the roosters are capable of.

good game to watch from a neutral perspective.

Have to give credit to the Dragons, physically destroyed us through the middle and it didn't help that we only had 3 interchanges with Masoe having a bad calf.

Was an absorbing contest and the atmosphere was f****** brilliant!

Oh and on Masoe, this guy was a one man wrecking crew with a dud calf! I can't be that disappointed when i see performances like that, if only the others had the heart to give it that extra go, easy to see in that last run by SKD, we only had 2 supporting players while everyone else watched. But again credit to Dragons defence, their attack is still not there yet though.

I couldn't see it well at the game, but I'm told the Dragons defender hit SKD's arm as he passed. If that's the case I am slightly less angry. Slightly. That boy can sure make and break a line break in a matter of seconds.

I thought both teams teams played great football, a real spectacle. Congratulations to both sides.

Roosters missed Aubbison, but the Dragons defence was again superb. The return of Weyman was glorius to watch, he made a huge difference to the Saints, as did Fien.

In my view, both teams are capable of making the GF. It is difficult to believe, the Roosters are the same team that played earlier in the year, well done.

It was pleasing to see the Saints bounce back to form. It means well coming into the final matches and semi's. To me, the Saints are a different team, to the team that played the Broncs last week.

Roosters will continue to struggle with pearce at halfback, again he went missing against defensive sides.

was a good game though

Again today shows the difference between the defences in teams , attack wont beat good defence.

dragons are averaging 10 in defence

The other 7 teams who make the 8, have all the same defences are averaging over 20+

Which makes those teams more even, the teams who defend better will be more of a threat

Good game of footy.

Dragons were relentless all day and in the end the task became ominous for the Chooks who to their credit nearly stole it at the death before that wayward pass from SKD.

Weyman, Young and Fien made a big difference for the Dragons. Weyman in particular had the defence retreating with his many surges. However the Dragons best for mine were Boyd and Creagh who both rediscovered their form.

Chookies became their own worst enemies at times. They've got the talent there, they just lack that experience, especially in the ruck to make things count.

roosters would have done the same thing, there would be no way the roosters would have went for a try

I can't believe people are giving SKD grief over the wayward pass. If Morris didn't come from behind & knock his arm: he wins Roosters the game

lol I can't understand why people are bagging Dragons for going for the 2. You wouldn't want your team to level it up?

Actually 6 of them are over 20, Penrith are 19.37. Dragons are 10.75 which is remarkable in the modern game.
