I'm not selling this, but I got shocked at the price!

Considering I picked up a genuine player worn Westmont jersey (number 24) on eBay last week for $250 this is massively over priced. But 11 people have bid on it and demand drives the price.

Has to be from 1995 as we were Newmans sponsored in 1996 and the ARL 'commenced' in 1995 with the addition of the four expansion teams.

Used to have one till late september back in 99 - hey i was an emotional wreck ok - when I threw it in the bin. Mates told me I was a fool to throw it away and now it looks like they are right.

About 3 years ago my sister's friend was about to get rid of some old Saints gear and she said she'd show me first. I scored a circa 93/94 Penfolds Red V with the 3/4 sleeves in top condition for free. Couldn't believe my luck.

Tell her she's dreaming.....

She probably was to think she'd get over $150 - but she must be pinching herself that its up over $500!

Which begs the question, if you had a vintage Dragons jersey (or a steelers original for those so inclined) how much would you have to be offered to consider letting it go?

I had this on watchlist as I normally watch the old jerseys as they come up to see what sort of prices they get.

$504 is a ridiculous price even for a jumper that looks in pretty good nick. Will be interesting to see if they are on there to bump it up at the last minute.

Yeah, there were a few pricey jerseys floating around with the same 'seller' who was stating she was selling it on behalf of her husband who was sick.

Despite the fact no self respecting league fan would allow his stash or jerseys to be sold BEFORE he'd died, there was something... strange about it. I think this is the same one as the one I looked at a week or two ago.

well there you go... there is the story. One bidder took it from $34.55 to $499.00 bidding against themselves. And the winner hadnt won anything before.

Id be asking the stewards for a swab. It's a stew.

Very fishy, I feel sorry for the poor bloke who paid the last bid. Is it possible to lodge a complaint despite not bidding? That type of stuff annoys me as the poor SOB on the end probably bought it with good intent and doesn't realise he's getting ripped.

It's funny, he was careful not to bid up the same amount each time. Definately a calculated effort...

A similar (but slightly older one .. NSWRL badges) went for about $53 last week.

I would expect that the same bidder would show in the bid history anyway if they had originally put in $499.99 as their highest bid, am I right?

For example, if snafu bids $499 as his max .. I come in and bid $50 and get outbid automatically for $51 .. I bid $100 and I get outbid automatically for $101 and so on .. the bidding history would only show snafu $51, snafu $101 and so on?

So in that respect it looks fine. However for that to happen, the other phantom people bidding would have to have submitted bids of something like $124, $199, $249, $259, $299, $349 .. ?

That doesn't make sense.

Anyone know where I can get an original Westmont Penfolds wines jersey? I've been looking for ages. I reckon if stores re-released that jersey they would go like hotcakes
