Translation: my team lost, I can't handle it, so I'll blame everyone and anything except my own team. Been there, done that. But not tonight!

It's time to take a reality check. The Roosters should have iced the Dragons by the end of the first stanza. Instead of constant bombs the kicking game should have been mixed up, short, long, high, crossfield and grubbers looking for repeat sets and maintaining pressure.

The Dragons showed Easts what they should have done in the first half.

Congrats to the St.George Illawarra club. Quality consistency for two seasons has been rewarded. I can see visions of Wayne Bennett at Mad Monday, handing out loaves and fishes to all the supporters and club associates. He'll probably turn water into wine as well.

The legitimacy of the Roosters' first try was a matter of interpretation. The Dragons' first try, on the other hand, was tainted by a blatantly incorrect decision and will go down as one of the biggest refereeing blunders in grand final history. In my opinion it is as egregious as the two 7th tackle tries by Manly in 1978 and Canterbury in 1995.

lol...delusional much?

The officials made some obvious stuff ups, it was disappointing to see but not unexpected.

At least the best team on the day won.

so what about the non penalty on the play before scott dropping the ball? rooster markers were obviosuly not square and off side ... Young ran at them and the penalty was not given. Next play scott drops it and Aubusson scores of the next set.

roosters did not score a legitimate point and you whinge about how they were dudded?

I have just watched the first 60 mins or so on fox. I am going to have to agree that the Roosters were refereed out of the game, even more so than I though while watching it live.

There were at least 5 occasions where the Roosters had the call go against them, each of which really could have caused a momentum swing. I know, a lot of 'what ifs' but really, if even 50% of these calls/no calls did not occur, the Roosters would have been in a much better position to win the game at the 65 min mark.

- Morris putting foot into touch, Gasiner scoring 3 plays later
- Dragons not square at marker/too deep at marker through the game. Roosters could have gotten at least 3 penalties from this (and probably would have if it was the regular season)
- Soft penalty to Dragons when Weyman got hit high
- Morris passing to Saffy who was offside (albeit there was another one from the Roosters later on)
- Minichello tackled without the ball, ruled scrum to Dragons, should have been a penalty to Roosters
- Perritt penalised for tackling Morris in the air, pity, just prior to that, Hornby ran Perritt off the ball - should of been a penalty and, secondly, Morris dropped the ball before Perritt tackled him
- Perritt gets slight push in back from Morris when contesting a bomb, should have been a penalty (just) and not a goal line drop out to Roosters
- Dean Young scores a BOD try, surely this was a knock on??

At that point, the Roosters were refereed out of the game.

I am not a Roosters fan (I am a Panthers fan) but, honestly, I think the Roosters, with all these ref stuff ups combined, they were denied a fair go at winning the game.

well soward didn't attack the ball with his feet, that's why a penalty wasn't given... video ref somehow thought he played at it, it's pretty clear the ball was planted on his leg however, that's been a knock on for as long as I can remember.

you watch it at normal speed again, if anything soward was trying to get under the player to hold him up.

I saw it as a square up.

Unfortunately you will be branded a sore loser even though it is justified. Apparently you are not allowed to be a sore loser regardless of how bias the refs are in a game.

Disgraceful officiating tonight.

Better team won, and by a margin which reflected their dominance, so there won't be any bad press.

But IMO there were 3 clear non-tries awarded tonight (Gasnier, Anasta, Young). In a grand final. If that's the best they can do (particularly the touchie who somehow missed 100% of Morris's feet being out) what the f**k is the NRL paying them for?

Add to that the 2 Dragons forward passes that should of been penalties, the Roosters threw 1 but the difference between these calls were the Roosters were in the Dragons half when they passed it forward and the Roosters were in the Dragons half when the Dragons passed it forward. So there is at least 4 points to the Roosters gone begging.

I am a Broncos fan and glad the Dragons one (got $150 on a multie with them) but the Roosters had the life sucked out of them. It's all well and good for everyone to say the better team won but they are only saying that cause the score blew out.

If the refs kept the game level and fair then we could be looking at a different outcome, that is my problem. The refs have too much influence on the result. Momentum is huge especially in a GF, compounded to this is it was against an arm wrestling Dragons who took full advantage and were able to play from the front, then it pissed down...Game over.

The refs were crap, but look. The Dragons tried their best to play the Roosters into it in the first half. They handed the Roosters a half time lead on a platter. And the Roosters couldn't do a thing with it. Couldn't complete a set. Couldn't work one constructive attacking play. Couldn't put in a decent attacking kick. And couldn't stop a procession of laughably soft tries in the second half. They have no one but themselves to blame.

I'd like to see an inquiry into the NRL referees as a whole

With this betting scandal nonsense going on it just seems really fishy to me. They have far, far too much influence on the outcome of a game

If anything wouldn't they be having their money on the Roosters? $2.30 better value then $1.60 the Dragons were paying.

This is why there needs to be a challenge system. Have said it before but why can a professional competition have the single worst officials. Fact is I watch the ESL and thay have refs that barely make mistakes, so why can they be so good..and yet we have two incompetent morons in the centre. Mind you Archer has been hopeless all season.
