I have just watched the first 60 mins or so on fox. I am going to have to agree that the Roosters were refereed out of the game, even more so than I though while watching it live.
There were at least 5 occasions where the Roosters had the call go against them, each of which really could have caused a momentum swing. I know, a lot of 'what ifs' but really, if even 50% of these calls/no calls did not occur, the Roosters would have been in a much better position to win the game at the 65 min mark.
- Morris putting foot into touch, Gasiner scoring 3 plays later
- Dragons not square at marker/too deep at marker through the game. Roosters could have gotten at least 3 penalties from this (and probably would have if it was the regular season)
- Soft penalty to Dragons when Weyman got hit high
- Morris passing to Saffy who was offside (albeit there was another one from the Roosters later on)
- Minichello tackled without the ball, ruled scrum to Dragons, should have been a penalty to Roosters
- Perritt penalised for tackling Morris in the air, pity, just prior to that, Hornby ran Perritt off the ball - should of been a penalty and, secondly, Morris dropped the ball before Perritt tackled him
- Perritt gets slight push in back from Morris when contesting a bomb, should have been a penalty (just) and not a goal line drop out to Roosters
- Dean Young scores a BOD try, surely this was a knock on??
At that point, the Roosters were refereed out of the game.
I am not a Roosters fan (I am a Panthers fan) but, honestly, I think the Roosters, with all these ref stuff ups combined, they were denied a fair go at winning the game.
