I know that you are a 12 year old muzby but you should still be able to check facts. Both Souths and the merged dragqueens had similar member numbers this season so why do you think that st.merge raised just over $1 million in memberships and Souths raised around $2.5 million? The merged club would take anyone, even sold 6 game passes and tried to convince everyone that these were "season ticket holders". Not at Souths - ticketed members start at $210 + each against $85 for the dragqueen 6 game "selected matches".

Absolutely correct Jack.

The old saying to Roosters fans that they will forever be in our shadow takes on a new dimension with the merged scum.

At least The Roosters are in the same universe in terms of premiership victories.

As a club, stmerge are in an 200 kilometre deep abyss in far flung Pluto by comparison to our great club.

Souths have shifted their trials to accommodate by the looks - article on Rabbitohs.com.au says

5 Feb v Newtown @ Redfern
13 Feb v Saints @ ANZ
19 Feb v Titans @ Coffs Harbour

I think that Storm won this thing in England the year before but who cares? Never watched the game, never seen the trophy etc. Manly won it too - didn't watch that game either.

The Charity Shield has a massive audience because it relates to the NRL and is the unofficial kick off to the new season. The world chess challenge in the UK matters to no-one and very few will bother to watch it!

Not that winning the Charity Shield is the be all and end all. It is a warm up for the big games ahead and raises some good dollars for charity. I look forward to watching this game every year along with every game the Rabbitohs contest.
In the past the WCC meant a lot more to the poms, but that shouldn't devalue it's importance. When they have won, it is big news in England. I'd like to see the same recognition in Australia.

The WCC is becoming a showcase event for international rugby league. At the very least, it has the potential to be an excellent promotion for the game.

It is incredibly arrogant to think that rugby league begins and ends on the east coast of Australia, an attitude that will only serve to undermine the great game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Souths were NRL side competing in the WCC, you would be getting right behind it...?

FTR, I also support the tradition of the Charity Shield. But of course there is room for both.

It would be a ripper.

This year it was a St Helens v Wigan decider in the UK. Wigan won, but imagine how good a St Helens v St George WCC would be? Both teams have the same Red V as the main jersey and supporters often call both teams Saints. It would have been a promoter's dream.

But the 2011 WCC is still going to be pretty hot. St Helens supporters are apparently keen to attend the game and cheer on the Dragons. Wigan supporters are keen to see their side win against both Saints and that could start an international club rivalry. Only a dummy would miss the promotion potential for this game.

I have not watched any of these games in the past willow and not about to start now. I can only see this game being of interest to SGI fans in Australia. I think that Storm won last year and maybe Manly the year before but not sure who they played or what the score was. Even if it was played in Sydney I would regard it as a trial game for the NRL season so being played in England I have even less interest as would nearly all fans of other clubs.

If Souths were in it would I be interested - of course I would as I follow my club in all matches. Having stated that I still see it as a trial game and if Souths were playing I would be hoping like crazy that there were no serious injuries to hamper the start to the NRL season.

Good luck with it but don't expect too much interest from non SGI fans!

I always watch the WCC. I'm a league fan, so any game in the off-season is a bonus to watch.
