My point was, even in Sydney footy players/coaches only have their privacy invaded if they ask for it. If they go out and make fools of themselves in some kind of scandal. You'll notice that you don't read a word in the gossip section of the paper about 90% of our players. The ones that behave themselves don't get attention. Bennett obviously behaves himself, he won't be getting attention. He won't have his privacy invaded.

But people are making it sound like a certainty that if he steps foot in Sydney he'll be hounded by paparazzi every minute of every day.

A few months ago you all told me the exact same thing about Greg Inglis. And look what happened there.

Facts? This is all speculation. Both the people arguing for Bennett to Souths, and the people arguing against are all speculating.

But there are logical reasons to suggest he will. Persistent whispers in the media (where there's smoke there's fire) over a period of months. Usually the rags get bored and move on to a new rumour when it's BS. Money isn't a question. Rusty would pay him whatever he wants. Rusty also has a record of getting the man he wants.

Bennett is in the business of winning premierships. We have the talent to get him another premiership. He can extend his legacy with us, creating a 2nd record I don't think will ever be beaten.

All those reasons point to him going to Souths. In my opinion it's a 75% chance he goes to us.

I think moreso than Sydney, it will be Russell Crowe himself that will cause the big drama for Bennett working at Souths... Russell by his nature and his work, is constantly in the spotlight. Since his involvement with Souths, he has done whatever he could to push the club into the spotlight too. Jay Leno IV's, Oprah W appearances are just some of the latest in the long line of stunts to get Rabbitohs into the media....Bennett, a man known for his distaste for the media and the spotlight will certainly have a problem with being expected to be part of the selling souths regime... Not with the corporate stuff behind the scenes and out of the public spotlight, he has done wonders with Saints on that score and would continue to do so for souths, but can you imagine the grand old man of league being trotted out like a prize bull to be gushed over by Oprah ? the man has his dignity...

He might coach Souths, but I believe that he will look back and wonder why he left the comfort of Saints or how he, a man known for his excellent judgement, could have gotten it so wrong...

It's not BS at all... Lang wasn't there but several players were... and Lang is hardly Wayne Bennett now is he?

The hoopla surrounding the club at the moment is more likely to make the man run that come a runnin'... besides what makes you think others can't offer the same money that Russell can? He is already the highest paid coach in the game at Saints... we could easily afford a payrise for him.. probably only Tinkler could pay more than we could afford...

another problem you will have is you have top line talent but depth as highlighted last year when some players were injured, really affected your chances of playing finals football... you have too much money tied to too few players and that will come back to haunt you as it haunted Saints through the 2000's... there was a reason Bennett came in to even out the talent and depth but that took two years to bring a premiership... you think it will happen overnight but it doesn't...

The salary cap will hit your club hard over the next year or 2, and there goes your depth. 5-6 quality players will not beat a strong 1st grade squad of 20 good / strong 1st grade players. You are nowhere near that level. Look at Saints in the years from 2001 - 2006 had 5 or 6 stand out players, but could not win the comp.

Bennett has made it clear to plenty of Dragons fans that he misses his family and doesn't like being away from them. Has also stated he likes the lifestyle of where he lives now.
Sorry to disappoint you, but Bennett will most likely stay with Saints ot head back to QLD to coach another side or retire. $$$ are not an issue for Bennett either, he has made enough I'm sure.

I'm not being a hypocrite at all.
If you actually cared to do some research and listen to what people have said or what has been quoted in articles, you would see Bennett is not that keen on the Sydney lifestyle.
Where is Souths based?
How many high profile people do you have around your club?
How many morons do you have around your club?

All things which go against what Bennett likes to work with.
How do I know this?

Our only important players coming off contract this year are Luke, Sutton, Sandow, Merritt and Farrell.

Rumours are saying we've resigned Luke to the end of 2015, announcement to be made soon. I also think we'll be able to keep Sutton and Farrell.

If we lose Merritt, we have plenty of great young outside backs coming through to take his spot. As for Sandow, if someone like Parra or Cronulla throw a lot of money at him then he might get priced out of here. But we have a good young halfback in Reynolds waiting for his chance.

And after 2012 we'll be fine keeping our players because the cap will be increased with the new deal.

Where did the bookies have you last year, especially around half way through the year. Comes back to my point about depth which you just don't seem to understand. How is that being a hater when I'm discussing depth issues at your club?
You might be better off sticking to following AFL.

Where is the guarantee about the cap increasing?
Some players may well sign before any announcement regarding the new TV rights deal with other clubs.
Should the cap increase, all clubs are going to have more $$$ to throw at players, and if you've got such an amazing squad, wouldn't another club who's roster isn't as good be able to throw more $$ at these quality players. Think about it.

I've never stated he is staying with Saints for sure. If he leaves, then I wish him well he made us all very happy last year getting the best out of the players.
I highly doubt he will go to Souths.

I think the Bulldogs could very well be the smokey ,i see him there far more than at the rabbitohs . I know that Bennett has very high praise for the canterbury club ,its always been one of his favorites i heard him say once . It was directly because of Bennett that Hannant,Stagg and Eastwood went there .
