Many post have been RT'ed by TripleM.

$3.75 GA tickets, $5 reserved to all Knights games, starting with May agaisnt the Warriors.

Announced by Tinkler this afternoon. So far I think it referes to the Family membership cost/person. It will apply to the last 10 home games for 2011, no word yet on 2012 but you assume ti will be the same or only marginally more.

yep. if Tinkler takes over, you can expect near capacity crowds to just about every Knights home game.

Tinkler to slash cost of Knights games
By Nathan Ryan
23 March 2011 04:34PM EST

MINING magnate Nathan Tinkler’s Sports Group have declared if the takeover of the Newcastle is successful they will make Knights games the most affordable in the country.

Ken Edwards, CEO of the Tinkler Sports Group (TSG) said the new pricing structure was a result of lengthy market research, similar to what the TSG did with the Newcastle Jets.

“A family of four can attend for the rest of the season for as little $200 (for the last 10 games),” Edwards announced.

“That means a family will have an under cover reserved seat for as little as $5 per person per game.

“Which makes it the best valued ticket of any professional sporting organisation in the country.”

Edwards said when Tinkler first established TSG pricing for families was a concern of his that he wished to have addressed.

“The sixth plank in our strategy and the way we want to do this... we want to be known as a family club,” Edwards said.

“It is just too expensive for some families to attend Knights games.

“One of the promises we are going to deliver on is making sure as many families and as many children as possible can get along and support the Knights.

“We want to make sure this is an affordable club so we can have 30,000 fans support the club.”

Tinkler’s $100 million bid will be voted on by members this time next week with the possible future owner of the Rugby League side needing 75 percent majority vote for it to pass.

Knights coach Rick Stone and captain Kurt Gidley were present for the announcement.

Word is that any CURRENT members will be given a limited edition 1997 Knights jersey will the players names on them, for already being paid up.

That 1997 jersey is better than anything the Knights have had since. sh*ts me so much that the teams with the 2 worst jerseys in the comp (Knights and Tigers) have such great jerseys in their past but use their current rags.

Back on topic, let's not get carried away yet. 75% is a very high threshold and there are a lot of morons out there fundamentally against privatisation. The vote isn't the formality many seem to think.

I see no negative to this, great news.

Wonder if the fans will be allowed to take their own food and drink or are they going to be f**k wits like they are at Penrith Park.

Me thinks this Knights owner will draw the crowd in to suck their wallets dry just like the Olympic Stadium does.

Already got one. ;-)

I noticed on the local news tonight they were using that as part of their display. I hope they go back to that jersey.

The Knights are the closest thing I have to a 2nd favourite team (I hate all the other Sydney teams for one reason or another, and I hate the non NSW teams...because they're not in NSW), I (and all NRL fans) should want nothing more than for Tinkler to win the vote easily...and maybe to bring back the 97 jersey at the first oppurtunity.

$5 a ticket, that is madness but it would be great to see the Stadium full. Knights need help and I hope they get it with Tinkler.

Bullsh*t. We don't NEED help. The changes will turn a reasonably strong team in to a powerhouse.

The Knights are not in anywhere near as much trouble as people think they are...

What is the vibe around Newcastle in regard to the new stand? Is there reason to expect a large upswing in attendances because of its opening coupled with the fact Newie has a pretty good side this year?

Both, should be a huge crowd. Apparently the stand wont be completely finished and some of the facilities wont be operational straight away. Should be a great night.

The Newcastle Jets one is pretty similar to this if I recall correctly.

I think the Jets fans should be inclined to feel a little bit disappointed given that Tinkler has promised to keep the knights colours yet he's changing the jets. I think if it were the other way around, there'd be a big outcry.

That said - bring back the vertical red & blue!

rubbish, we run at break even most years and only because we skimp on every possible area available to us. have you read the post from Pika speculating on what he'd like to spend some extra cash on? it's embarrassing, some of the areas we skimp in to make the bottom line bearable... and he didn't even take the front office/administration into account as he didn't know a lot about it (and it seems to be the main area we lack in).

we're not a strong club. we're viable, we're not strong.

We are not a basket case Perverse. We are not broke. We are not needing to go into receivership or liquidation. We are a viable operation which - whilst we could certainly be doing things better - are stronger than other clubs in the competition.

The perception out there is that the Tinkler deal is do or die for the club and it simply isn't true. Yes it would be preferable and desirable, but it isn't essential.
