Titans have been worse than us.

How the hell will they be under the cap?

I'd say a fair bit of dead wood will be shed aswell as Friend leaving. Hinestly wouldn't be too suprised to see another high profile player or two go to make way for some younger blood.

LOL that'd be a kick in the teeth... imagine after all the huffing and puffing, if instead of the Snowden, TLL, Idris, Boyd and Ennis, the knights wound up getting blokes like Tighe, Quinn, Woolnough etc back

I doubt it, but it'd be bloody funny

As to contribute, Joey Picker to be re-signed by the raiders before the week is out.

Who would take over?
Adam Reynolds?

Yep, if Chris moves on Adam is all we have. Though Maguire didn't rule out the option of encouraging Finch to join him on Sky Sports Radio this morning. But I'm fairly sure that won't happen.

Apparently Chris is keen to stay, but he is not worth the money that Parra are offering. Not even close and I think my club knows it. If it comes down to money he will leave.

Reported on FoxSports, along with Snowden going to the Knights.
A huge loss with both our starting props leaving for greener pastures next year.

I strongly doubt Snowden will go to the Knights as Bennett's policy about not spending big bucks on props is well known. Here's a scoop ! - that'll leave some cash for Darius Boyd to head up the F3.

Another one you ask - why not ? Sir Wayne will rebuild the Newcastle roster adding bargain type players who are low maintenance & will respond to his coaching style. Not necessarily both of these, but along the lines of Green & Emmett or the type of forwards the Storm now have more of over the past 2 seasons like Norrie & Lowe. Then throw in some "washed up" type players who aren't realising their potential at their current club - obvious success stories from this type are Weyman & Cuthbertson. Pinpointing those guys in 2011 - you might want to start in NSW or QLD Cup

Plenty of those without having to look outside our current squad...

According to DW on C.9 tonight Sandow has been offered $1m over 3 years by Parramatta.

If correct I can't see Souths matching that

Have to remember, it was reported initially by the Weasel.....

A lot of money for a hit and miss halfback

You should watch us play. We have been a basket case since the start of 2008, and lots of that comes down to a lack of halves. The club is well beyond desperate and reaching into tearing their own heads off if they don't sign someone, for us it isn't overs considering he'd be a 100% improvement on Mortimer and Robson combined.

Man, whoever is in charge at Parramatta is a genius. It's unbelievable the signings they've pulled off (and trying to pull off now) in the last 2 years. I couldn't have picked a better bunch of jokers if I tried.

The signings for 2010 were very good, although Tahu was a flop and Shackleton missed the year with injury. The signings for 2011 were terrible because the club puts all of it's eggs in the Cooper Cronk and Quade Cooper baskets and it didn't pay off, by the time they realized those two amongst others weren't coming they had to sign a bunch of fringe first-graders to at least have a squad.

Compare our targets now though, for next season. We've been linked to and apparently made serious offers to; Bronson Harrison, Adam Blair, Matt Duffie, Junior VaiVai, Chris Sandow, and a host of others.. Whilst two of those names look bad, they are realistic targets and each would offer or have offered a lot to the side.

I'm a critic of Sandow for his defence but his record in terms of points-scoring speaks for itself. The Rabbitohs have been the most consistently brilliant attacking team two years in a row, with Sandow in the halves. If Souths had a better defence across the park, they would have finished in the top four in both 2009 and 2010.

My own club paying overs for a very young player that most would say has a lot of talent, and is also a grub (a type of player we lack) and potentially has a tonne of improvement in him, when you consider how desperate we are to sign SOMEONE that can steer a side around; you begin to see why they would offer that much.

Honestly, who else is on the market that we can buy? The only off-contract halves we have a hope of snaring that would be better are Mullen (?) and Maloney, but Mullen will probably stay at the Knights. Maloney is the player I would have chased, in fact I hope if we sign Sandow we also lure Maloney here, and bang; halves problem solved.

A halves combo of 6. Maloney 7. Sandow looks oh so much better than 6. Mortimer 7. Robson.

I like Parra's props. Mannah and Moi Moi are obviously great, and if Poore can get over http://forums.leagueunlimited.com/showthread.php?t=355497&page=50his injury problems he's good as well (although overpaid). I've also though McGuire and Walker have shown pretty good glimpes during their stints on the field. Players like Burt, Hindmarsh, Hayne, Smith, Mitchell probably stay for the next couple of years. With this is mind it comes down to halves and outside backs.

So going off that list (not sure how accurate), you do have plenty of options. Gagai is a good young player. Albert Kelly is off contract at the Sharks (or you could take Tim Smith back :sarcasm:). Manly have Tony and David Williams off contract, as well as Hopoate - all three would walk into your backline. Wes Naiqama has looked very strong at Newcastle, Taumata has massive wraps for a half (and hasn't been in the news for half a year). Not a bad list there at all.

I see what you mean, but I meant as far as halves go. I'm not kidding when I say you'd find a couple thousand Eels fans going to sleep with bed-side lists of the off-contract halves for next year, it really is getting that desperate a topic.
Recruiting Sandow is better than sitting on our butts waiting for a big name player to come off contract or taking a punt on an unproven junior. Sandow has played a few years in first-grade, and the parts of his game in which he struggles can be improved as he matures.

The good thing about Mortimer is that after a dismal 2010, he is actually showing signs of improvement and as each week has passed he continues to expand on his game. The problem is, at this stage his good games just aren't good enough to get the side a victory.

You won't get Maloney for 2012 at least as the Warriors have the option on him for next year and have apparently told him they are taking the option on him and are in discussions with him for a long term contract.

Well there you go, it looks like our only real option is Sandow. Thanks mate for informing us, a lot of Eels fans were confused about Maloney's situation.

I thought it was a player option, not a team option.

The New Zealand Warriors have moved to plug the hole created by Stacey Jones' impending retirement by signing rugby league utility James Maloney for next season.
The Melbourne halfback-standoff has been contracted to the Auckland-based National Rugby League (NRL) club on a two-year contract with an option for a third season in 2012.

Not sure how to read that though...

Option is in Maloneys favour.

He is keen to return to Sydney, as he wants to be closer to his family.

If Parra dont get Sandow , look for a big move on Maloney.

For all we know, we might be chasing both Sandow and Maloney.
I hope that is the case;

6. Maloney 7. Sandow

Reads far better than

6. Mortimer 7. Robson
