Asotasi was on 400k. I'm estimating we were offering 250-350k to Sandow. Combined, upto 750k to spend.

From next season, Sutton is definetley on less than the big money he was on until now. Luke, although unconfirmed, when the news came out he was resigned, it was also said that he was taking a paycut to stay with us.

Merritt probably got a bit of a rise. But that and Inglis's rise is balanced out by the other two.

I think we'll now have enough $ for 2 good players, and we'll most likely be after a half and a prop.

Sutton is dropping from a 400k impact on the cap to a 50k - 100k impact reportedly. Significant paycut + longterm player benefit, he got no interest from other clubs.:lol:

Taylor could be leaving too.

I think he's a player we'll cling to. Definitely one of the core players for Souths.

total bullshit luke took a paycut he would have been in high demand after last years form and i cant believe that sutton would have taken a paycut either you simply have to look at the market for halves with sandow being a prime example of overs being payed

Who exactly would want John Sutton, he's not even a proper half ffs and unlike Sandow he's been in ordinary form this year as well, plus the long service concession he's going to get, he would take up a significantly smaller part of the cap from 2012.

There was no rumours whatsoever of anyone being interested in him. If there was, it wouldn't have been done so quickly.

Not much to it really but apparently some other clubs were interested.

Do you really think his manager would say "fmd we're desperate, noone wants him and we're worried he won't be offered a contract for 2012".

And in that he says "nothing will change in the next 5 weeks" and then 2-3 weeks later he was signed. So obviously they had no idea and as soon as we wanted him it was signed almost immediatley. He had noone and he was lucky we gave him a contract. He was on 350-400k under the cap on this current contract. We would have offered him no more than 250k now. 250k is basically zero because he's our only player eligible for the long service allowance.

Totally agree,Parra chased Luke hard,he would not have taken a pay cut,more likely a healthy pay rise,and a pay cut for Sutton of $80k would stll put him at around 300k.

Luke is on 300k trust me. And yes Parra went hard for him but unlike Sandow, Luke stayed for less.

And Sutton is not on 300k. Noone would have offered him 300k, there's no way we have him for more than 250k, which is essentially zero.

And if he's on 250 or 300, that's only 50 or 100 under the cap. Compared to the near 400 he was under the cap on his current contract.

Point is we're cashed up for a couple of good signings this year.
