I can say without doubt that the WARL have not been approached by News Ltd to form another comp. Great conspiracy but up their with Elvis on the moon and Bin Laden in Guantanomo

That basket case already cost them enough money. Oh but it will be different next time..

Nothing needs saving. The game is booming. Hence the interest to lock up long term influence.

The last time the game was this healthy News Ltd launched SuperLeague.

The game is going ok. It is more for those people who say the "Ic will fix this and that"
The refs will still be who they are
Gallop will still be who he is
The MRC will still produce weird gradings
The judiciary will still make weird decisions

A few days ago I would have agreed. But the death of Osama will mean it won't happen. He was going to be the new competitions CEO with the loch ness monster his media manager.

I thought he was going to be a a recruit for the fumblers.Tall,lean.the ability to vault 5 metre walls, able to secure many possessions(eg 4 wives),evasive, has the opposition running around in 360degree circles, and likes to king hit people when they are not looking, able to attack from long range, and only popular within a limited area.

NEWSLTD want to suck every profit out of the NRL at a very low premium.. hence why the most popular program on FOXTEL doesn't have it own channel like AFL, even though half our Toyota Cup games rate higher most weeks than AFL games.

That sounds impressive, but I don't think it's true - do you have the ratings figures to back that up ?

I remember last year reading that some Toyota Cup games were outrating Super 14 games played in NZ or South Africa. Are you sure you're not getting football codes confused ?

I yearn for the days when we could have the comp as it was before the evil empire moved in with its filthy attitude.

One can only hope that the likes of Melbourne,Brisbane,The Warriors,The Cowboys,Canberra,Gold Coast and Canterbury can f**k off.

We can have our own "back to normal programming" comp with Souths,Manly,Penrith,Parra,Balmain Tigers,Wests Magpies,Newtown,North Sydney,Eastern Suburbs,Cronulla,St George Dragons,Newcastle and the Illawarra Steelers.

IF these clubs got together and did an amalgamation, there'll be no use for the evil empire that has cast a cold shadow over OUR game for the past 14 or so years.

And when the new comp gets established, clubs like Adelaide and Perth would be more than welcome to join our revamped brotherhood.

News LTD are cancer.

There conditions of Gallop as CEO, first and last rights for the next 20 years, the financial propping up of the Storm and sabotaging of the independent commission only reinforce my opinion.

Their main objective was controling first and last rights for as long as possible so they could offer bargain basement prices for PayTV. News ltd (along with their good buddies PBL and Telstra) have already secured this as part of the IC until 2027.

I think the reason they are dragging their feet over a non-compete cause is they are using that as a bargaining chip to get something else they want from the ARL/QRL. I don't think they would start a breakaway comp again - SL cost them an aweful lot of money (which they have made back by undervalued TV deals and a $10m cut each year).

They will eventually sign a non-compete clause, I only wonder what the ARL will give up to get it.

Who are these business people.

The setup of Foxtel was teh reason Super League started in teh first place so News Ltd only have one intention to maintain the Pay-TV rights and not loose out to someone ike One HD. Thus the purchase of Ten by Murdoch junior

The only REAL player in the TV rights arena is Seven as Telstra/Foxtel/Ten/Nine are all in bed together

I am no tas worried about IC v NRL other than money being siphened off to pay for the Storm

I am more concerned about how we have a NSW-CRL and QRL undermining the ARL and that is what is really hurting the game and stopping the development of the game in rural areas

Everyone has vested interests. f**king News, QRL, NSWRL... if the people in charge were the type of people the game needs in charge we wouldn't have to deal with all this bullshit. It would be whatever is best for the game gets put in. News should f**k off and let the game grow for a bit. Surely there's a decent chance they can make more money with a stronger product. Right now they are limiting it and themselves.

News won't rule out another rebel comp

NEWS LTD is refusing to guarantee it will not start another Super League war because of uncertainty over the future of broadcast rights.

While News has offered to sign a non-compete clause for five years after its exit from the game, the Rupert Murdoch-owned media company will not guarantee that it will never form a Super League-type breakaway competition again.

To everyone who watched the game back then, is it in a more secure position now that if a rebel comp was to form clubs wouldn't go near it?
