At this stage we only have Keating on contract for next year. Ideally you want to have two specialist hookers in your top 25 and another utility who can play there if needed. So it will be interesting to see what Kearney's plans are there.

I'd be surprised and some what shocked if we closed up shop with our buying..i still get that feeling that either mitch or Casey could still stay.

I'm certain we'll keep one of them. Mitchell's the better option because of his youth.

If he wasn't such a f**kwit, Jake Friend would be an awesome signing.

Other than that there's:

De Gois, who isn't good enough for the type of hooker he is (Farah/Smith type playmaking hooker).

Aaron Payne might have another year or two left in him but then we may as well re-sign McGuire.

After that there's a bunch of guys - Aiton, Heremaia, Iosefa, et al - who are no better than Anthony Mitchell.

yep, if he it did come down as a choice between the 2 i would opt for Mitch, but last i heard there was no intention re-signing him.

I've heard the same but I don't understand it. The bloke is only 21 and has only been given limited chances to prove himself in top grade. I don't think he's played a bad first grade game yet really. Last night he was put on but then hoiked off by SK after 14 minutes and he looked impressive when he was on the field.

He's the same age as Morts but doesn't seem to be given the same opportunities that Morts has been given despite being far more talented.

SK is not going to let go of players who turn out to be good players. So I wouldn't worry too much.

Probably hasn't proven himself in the lower grades or at training. If you've got a shit attitude there you can hardly expect people to trust you with bigger things.

I've never understood why Smith let Ian Hindy and bobcat go the same with hages letting Maloney and Hodko go than there was KK, Feleti, Albert Kelly by DA...when you're not part of the inner sanctum than you don't know why certain decisions are made.

From Mitch's handling by SK it does not seem he is too keen on retaining him. It was evident yesterday .

SK said he cant understand some of the players Parra has let go. He said he's going to fix that. That's why I'm not worried about who he let's go.

I don't think we are that far off where we can get to

I always though we'd be a 8th-12th ranked team at seasons start and still think so now

I can understand some of them. Bobcat had played origin when we let him go and Ian was an experienced first grader so it was the salary cap that forced them out. When Hages let Maloney and Hodgo go we had Morts, Kelly, and KK running around in the lower grades so we couldn't keep all of them. The same with DA and KK and Kelly when we had Morts and Humble as up and comers.

The thing with Mitchell I don't get is that we don't have a player waiting in the wings apart from him who can player hooker. So it doesn't make sense for him to be unwanted when

a) Maguire is also off contract and a retirement is a possibility for him.
b) There are no young hooker at the club currently who would be able to step up to first grade level
c) No really decent hookers on the market who would come relatively cheap

well, that's fine, you made that assumption as an outsider looking in and i probably could of given you the same reasons but that doesn't make them correct, in terms of Mitch, we'll have to see what SK and Peter Nolan has in store in that area, it's still early days.

Next year we will not only have Sandow,Roberts,Tonga,Poore & Reni.
We will also have Loko,Lassallo,Allgood with a year of first grade under there belt.Horo will have two years in top grade and should see him realy hit his straps next year!!
Our depth should be a lot better too.-Rory Brien,POH will both be ready for first grade next year and maybe even young BARBA if he stack on some weight

Gee it has not been that bad, our squad is pretty bad and we are only sitting 1-2 wins outside the eight. Look at the sides below us and the squads they have compared to our squad. As PE mentioned just adding Sandow and Poore to the side will make a bloody huge difference.

I agree with Kearney we are getting closer to some decent form. We were close against the cowboys except for the last 15 or so minutes and the cowboys are towards the top of the table. And we only lost by 2points last night due to a pretty rough penalty against Fui. If I didn't know the score from last night and only read the posts on the forum over the last 24 hrs it would seem we would have been flogged by 40. 2 Points is all we lost by people it could have easy been a win.

Although we arent scoring points, im loving our defence as a team. I think we are going well considering the squad we have. Carry this on to next year and I think we will do very very well.
