The weekly guess the selections thread - or put forward your own wacky ideas....

1. Hayne (backing up two days after Origin)
2. Burt
3. Smith (prefer him in the forwards but there's really no-one to put there)
4. ? Morgan / Walker (whoever is fit)
5. Uaisele (did OK tonight I thought)
6. ? Maguire (I prefer him at hooker, but Keating > Morts, so no choice but to play him here)
7. ? Robson (no-one else pressing for this position)
8. Mannah (backing up two days after Origin)
9. ? Keating (no-one else pressing for this position
10. Moimoi
11. Hindmarsh
12. Shackleton (with Mannah back can maybe slot into the back row)
13. Maitua (did well first game back)

14. Lasalo
15. O'Hanlon (did ok on debut as a back rower substitute)
16. Allgood
17. Webb
18. Horo (he seemed to be playing injured tonight, but still went for 80 mins)

Not sure if Morgan will be right for next week, but please Sk do not let Walker anywhere near our team next week. His heart is not in it.

I guess now that Reni is back that Benny could play centre for the rest of the year in place of Loko, but if Filiga's defence is up to it, i think that he should be given a shot.

To me at the ground, both Horo and Maguire were carrying niggles which restricted them. I wouldn't be adverse to Humble getting a shot at 6 and giving Maguire a rest.

IMO Reni would be best served off the bench and hitting tired edges. Hopefully next year he can play 80mins.

1. Hayne
2. Burt
3. Morgan
4. Filiga
5. Atkins
6. Maguire / Humble
7. Robbo
8. Mannah
9. Keating
10. Fui
11. Lasalo
12. Hindy
13. Smith

14. Reni
15. Shack
16. Allgood
18. Horo / POH

I think McGuire's honeymoon at 6 is just about over.

He was pretty good about a month back but gees, he's gone missing since then particularly in defense

I like Casey but two errors in defence has cost two games Manly and the Broncos. He Didn't need to go out of the line and charge up on Gillet. Same as the Manly game in the end when he missed Cherry-Evans.
Casey is not the reason why we are losing at Parra. We just don't have enough quality across the field. We have some quality but not enough. A kicking game, Speed, Halfback, Five-eigth, Wingers is what we are lacking at the moment. Our forwards are doing a great job but we can't convert the forwards work to points.

one major change I would like to see, is a dummy half/hooker on the bench. I think we lack some spark around the ruck with Keating playing 80 mins. It would be good have a fresh dummy half coming on in the last 12 or so mins in each half to provide some spark and take advantage of a tiring opposition and our good yardage. Our forwards have been making good metres. Maybe Mortimer to the bench or Humble to 5/8 and McGuire to the bench.

i don't think he charged up on gillet, he just got stood up by a 2nd rower  ... mind you a good 2nd rower - when i watch gillet, i always think young hindy .... and horo wasn't much help stumbling around next to casey .... piss poor effort from both of them - almost as piss poor as walker standing on the goal line and wonder why his opponent can just shrug him and put hte ball down to score

anyway .... I want to see Humble get a chance and I want Reni playing a back rower role

Agree with people suggesting Humble and Filiga get a chance in the top grade - you could tell from watching Hindy and Burt at fulltime that our race for the 8 is now over...

Am I the only one that thinks Webb was pretty good last night??

He was great starting with Fui, Would rather Carl than Manese in the top side!

Ben Smith is good cover at centre but he is SOOOOO much better in the back row! Surely we must have someone else to play centre?

Webby has been a great signing. Just a little unlucky he has so many good forwards in front of him.

Bet he is spewing the Eels have signed Tautai from Sharks for 2012 as it will make it even harder for him to crack a starting spot.

He looks like he has worked hard on his fitness :sarcasm:
If the Eels are successful in signing Mark O'Meley and Ray Cashmere on board, it will relieve a lot of pressure on blokes like Webby...He won't then be the worst forward in the NRL....

i thought Webb was good, made a couple of really good runs, with great leg drive, pity he was only afforded 25 mins game time by the coach....
and for those that will argue he isn't fit enough to play more minutes, then why wouldn't the coach play someone who was???

Webb was very good, I was surprised he was used as a starting prop, but it paid off by netting him more minutes. Allgood, Shackleton and Moi Moi were all very good too. Our prop rotation certainly looks set for this year and next, especially with the depth we have in that position.

With Hayne back in the side, that should solve our long-kicking issues - or at least reduce them. I think Maitua was great, especially considering it was his first game back, but I'd be more inclined to play him in the second row or in the centres, and bring either Humble or Mortimer (or both) up into the halves.

My side barring injuries and fitness issues from Wednesday would be;

1. Hayne
2. Burt
3. Filiga/Savage (assuming Morgan unfit)
4. Walker
5. Uaisele
6. Mcguire/Humble/Mortimer (if Robson unfit)
7. Mcguire/Humble/Mortimer (if Robson unfit)
8. Mannah
9. Keating
10. Moi Moi
11. Hindmarsh
12. Maitua
13. Smith
14. Allgood
15. Shackleton
16. Webb
17. Horo/Lasalo

Uaisele was good and made good hard runs to start our sets, so he can keep his spot. I don't know about Walker at centre, but we have little choice; if Morgan is still injured, then I would bring up Filiga or Savage, the preferred option being Savage.

My preferred halves combination would be Humble and Mcguire, depending on Robson's fitness.
Who knows what will happen though, I guess.....
Also wondering whether Atkins will be fit.....
