Queensland's triumph a victory over the dirty rats of Origin

I'd rather he wouldn't have said anything and the comparison to the floods is melodramatic but behind that he makes a lot of valid points and has a right to have the last word after all the bull s**t that was said in the lead up to the game, including an article that questioned his abilities as a coach.

His writing a pathetic, whingey article in today's Courier Mail suggests otherwise.
something tells me the article's not for you people. But feel free to keep thinking it's all about you.
More great words by the so called "coach" of QLD. I wish he would just shut up.
Yeah and you wish NSW could win a series and would play with a bit of heart and passion. You keep wishin'

Imagine Mal in the position Gould has, with his column inches and free rein on Channel Nine, with minions following. Then you'll get a sense of what Queenslanders must put up with.

Didnt Mal say something like "rugby league did nothing for me" or "I don't owe RL anything"?

 I'm not sure of any time in history when Gould has ever referred to Queensland as dirty rats or filth, nor have I heard of Gould ever claim the NRL judiciary is biased for or against either state.

He hasn't succeeded in pissing off me or any other NSWman I know... I feel sorry for the guy. If he can't see the positive in winning 6 series and instead has to spend what I imagine would be hours writing an over-emotional bitching session for a newspaper, then that's his loss.

I'm quite happy having lost the series 6 times straight - the trade-off is that I don't have to be a seat-pissing, whinge-when-you're-winning Queenslander

If you think that article was whinging, it wasn't. It was Mal saying how damn proud he was of his team and what they've achieved together despite some of the crap thats been thrown at 'em.

If you guys think pissing QLD off is the best way to beat us then good luck with that, you'll need it.

What's wrong with being the best figurehead in the rugby league world. Like Price said, Qld don't need coaching, just organising.

He mightn't be comparable to Gould, or anyone as a coach, even if they are 6 all . . . but it's his team and his bragging rights.

He knows that the vast majority of Newsouthwelshmen know quality when they see it.

The one thing I do agree with is his comments RE: Gallen's post match interview. He should have in actual fact thanked the man above that Greg Bird didn't give away another 3-4 penalties singlehanded. The guy was leapfrogging players in the ruck to push them back to the ground and get to marker.

I think it is a very narrow minded or ignorant person who sees this article as a 'whinge'. One would suggest to call it such is a 'brush off' of the facts it sets out.
So are we simply to forget the underhanded tactics that have been used this year?
"It's ok, you won, take the shield and STFU" ?????
Once again the opposition have underestimated/not comprehended the victor's PASSION for Origin.
These issues have GOT To be addressed sooner or later; and frankly with what has gone on this year I think it is better NOT to wait until the sting of defeat has eased.

I think now with a 6 pack of victories, they may just be ready for a barrage of truths.
I think it's gonna be an interesting 'off season' for Origin. NSW tried to 'fix what's broken' themselves & it didn't turn out how they wanted it to. I'm seeing a lot of Maroon steering the Origin ship into a new era.

Big Mal should let the scoreboard do the talking. He could have used the article to pay tribute to Lockyer or the team in general, but instead quickly descended to paranoid dribble.

If he is so thin-skinned he can't handle a few articles in Sydney papers questioning his position it's no wonder his political career was short-lived.

Comparing a sixth straight win in a three game series to St Geroge's ten year premiership dominance is a bit deluded too.

Well said Mal !!

Some great lines in there.

Someone had to have the balls to come out in public and call Geoff Carr a f*ckwit.

It definitely needed saying

The fact Mal feels the need to compare a mere football game to the floods that destroyed thousands of lives tells me all I need to know about the man. Dumb as dogs*** and paranoid as well.

The fact you think that's what Mal did leaves me pondering, "what's the term for dumber than dogshit"?

The same man with the world record for the shortest political career(30 seconds?) criticizing something of similar nature in the context of footy. I'll take this with a grain of salt thanks.

PS Entertaining read nevertheless bahaha
