Nice read, big Mal. well said. They are the best ever rep team and still so young. this series was the first real competition we have had in the last 3 years and we come up triumphant despite phil saying after game 2 that game 1 was a fluke and the blues should have already have won the series. gallen was off key, the refs calls didnt decide this 3rd game. the better team again won the series. i'd like to hear that from him, sticky, gids, watmough, and others. because its true and they need to deal with it. they didnt grow up in the state with the best footballers of their era. funny the nsw supporters on here and their reactions in this thread, knobs.

i remember this guy with a bunch of his qld player critising the NSW coaching structure at the end of origin last year. he and his players didn't hold back, nsw never winged and complained about it. they took it on the chin, and disregarded his comments. Hah it's funny how this tool has to go and b!tch about it when it come his way. BTW he needs to understand how the judiciary work, taylor was suspended becoz of ill discipline from before while uate was clean. he might complain about jarryd hayne from last year, but did u see what slater did in that storm vs eels match. he went and struck hayne in the back of the head with an elbow and he wasn't even called up for that. he should have suspended in that. that is worse than a head but, no sort of combat sport allows either things but to have one pulled up and not the other is just disgraceful. BTW has everyone forgotten Thurston's boot in Williams face?

If NSW really did influence things in the paranoid way Mal thinks, dont you think Thurston would of actually been suspended rather then let off?

Just because you don't understand it, doesn't mean you need to feel embarassed.

Would expect nothing less from those from the gay and lesbian capital of the world.

I would rather be gay and/or lesbian than be a Queenslander and/or be associated with these guys:

It's such a shame that someone as universally respected as Mal has to come out with crap like this.

Sure, some things didn't go their way, but they were still good enough to win in the end.

You expect it from certain hacks within the media and game, but to actually come out on the record with this garbage is a disgrace.

Nowhere near as bad as the Cronulla Leagues Club thing in 1995, but still terrible stuff from a legend of the game.

Hope he gets sued.

This article is pretty much definitive proof that Wayne Bennett should be regarded as the ambassador for Queensland Rugby League. Granted, not every person that follows the Maroons is an ungrateful whinger who sees a NSW conspiracy around every corner, but when Big Mal comes out with this drivel, he doesn't do alot to help relieve the stereotype of Queenslanders that exists south of Coolangatta and west of Mt Isa.

Wayne has complained about referees and the games' officials during his long and distinguished coaching career, sure. But he has never sunk so low as to go on with the hysterical "Everyone in the world has got it in for Queenslanders!" that people like Meninga do. Big Mal used to have the respect of many NSW league fans (myself included), but not anymore. Wayne thinks Qlders are more passionate about Origin and that NSW people are more passionate about their NRL clubs than Qlders (I don't necessarily agree on either count), but at least his columns are quite fair, intelligent and are a strong indicator as to why he is so universally respected in our game.

Big Mal should let the scoreboard do the talking. He could have used the article to pay tribute to Lockyer or the team in general, but instead quickly descended to paranoid dribble.

If he is so thin-skinned he can't handle a few articles in Sydney papers questioning his position it's no wonder his political career was short-lived.

Comparing a sixth straight win in a three game series to St Geroge's ten year premiership dominance is a bit deluded too.

This. Wayne Bennett or even Gus would have used his position in the media to instead praise a retiring champion from the team they coached and the effort of the 17 men they lead. Clearly too big an ask for Mal though.

Who was the ghost writer? Some one should remind Mal that they have won 6-0. Settle down big man. Consider this, if the Brisbane coach, Griffin, had made the comments about the judiciary system that Mal made before Origin 3 he would have been charged with bring the game into disrepute, any coach for that matter. Why not Mal?

Not sure if it's actually Wayne's opinion, but I couldn't agree more. Well from the NSW standpoint anyway.
