What looked like going to Parker for 2012 is now uncertain with the return of Petero.

Will it be Parker, Civoniceva or someone else like Thaiday or Glenn?

I like Parker as captain. He leads very well by example, never gives up and talks well to the media.

The only thing he would have to learn to do is concentrate on his own game and not feel responsible for the whole team. Occasionally when he is captain he tries to do too much and gets in the way of the backline and so forth.

See my issue with Parker is that to me if you want to be captain of the Broncos, you have to be a great player. Now, Parker is good, no doubt and he's been very loyal to the Broncos BUT I don't think he commands the same respect as a Petero Civoniceiva or Sam Thaiday.

Petero for next year, Thaiday for 2013.

I dont see putting Petro as cap is looking to the future. It would only be for a couple of years max, then we would be back in the same spot.

Imagine Thaiday is the captain, after being involved in a scuffle what would he say to his boys? lol.

I'd go for Thaiday then.

Parker is one of the few 80 minute players running around these days. The amount of work he gets through each week is emormous and I'd be very surprised if we wasn't already one of their 'unofficial' leaders. He's better than 'good'. He's great and deserves to be captain in 2012. Petero for VC and Geln to fill in during rep season.

Thaiday's career > Parker's.

Not to mention, everytime Parker's been expected to come up with a big play in a major game he's come up with goose eggs.

i agree parker doesnt seem very charismatic or command the same respect. he isnt established enough to lead the broncos, while he plays 80 minutes, and tries hard, extremely hard. he runs around like a headless chook at times and doesnt particularly always make good runs or strong tackles, i'd prefer someone who is a stronger player, as opposed to some who just tries hard. Petero followed by Glenn. long term leadership Glenn.

Thaiday's career > Parker's.

Parker was pretty crap pre-hair. So that isn't saying a lot.
Thaiday last year was better than Parker has ever been, but still based on this year and maybe even 09, I stand by my original comment. (Don't really want to go off topic.. but Thaiday has been pretty average this year IMO)

When is a lock ever expected to come up with game winning plays anyhow? Unless you mean goal kicking, but that isn't really fair since I don't think Thaiday would be winning us many games off the boot.

I mean whenever we need that big run, whenever he's called onto to do something Parker ALWAYS seems to falter. Every. single. time.

Thaiday has starred for Queensland and Australia and is only going to get better. Parker is a good servant, but that's that.

The only thing holding Sam back is that everytime the ref will want to talk to him, he'll need Macca to help him out.

I take your points, but giving Thaiday the captaincy may force him into his shell a little. Look what happened to James Horwill with the Reds. I don't want the same thing happening with Big Sam. His aggression is one of his most defining qualities.

I'm probably wrong

but

hasn't Parker got a shithouse record for the Broncs winning games when he's skipper?

It's a tough call now with Petro coming back. Be an easy decision if he had never of left the club. Wasn't entirely his fault, still ........none the less, he's been gone for a couple years now.

As a long term skipper I like Alex Glenn. Next year is a bit early for him though.

I'll go with Petro for now, with a view to Glenn after Petro's gone.

I don't rate Thaiday's captaincy chances.......

I think parkers shithouse record as captain goes hand in hand with our shithouse record without Dazza.

Big Pete is a notorious Parker doubter/hater/underrater.

Parker captain next year, Glenn when Parker retires or is injured.

as much as i like him, i think parker is highly over rated. if he left, glenn to lock, gillet to second row. no big loss, except for goal kicking. as i said above id prefer an effective player than a workhorse.
