i know there has been talk that he may be injured... defensively he did ok last night, but in attack he was lost...it so f**king confusing- if he was injured he wouldn't be putting his body on the line as he did with some of the tackles he made but then with the ball its like his scared shitless to get touched, let alone tackled...

yes he made some rather poor options where he was tackled on the last or else was playing the ball on the 5th and excluding himself from a play make on the last. Was off his game offensively when in the attack zone otherwize he looked fit

i cannot believe how we have gone from the benchmark team to the laughing stock.
lets not kid ourselves, that was totally inept last night, if it wasnt for the fact melbourne were so poor without cronk steering them around the park, they would have put 20 + on us last night.
matt prior is a joke, soward? i dont know where his head was last night but it wasnt on footy.
once again we had a great chance to get the monkey off our back and blew it.

We kept the Storm at bay despite them getting repeat sets at the line. Our goal line defence is a vast improvement on recent weeks. If not for some lapses in the handling department and some poor last tackle options, we would have won. Fix that and we're back on track.

Don't care about this looking for a scapegoat stuff. Soward's form issues can be sorted. For the first time in weeks I saw the team having a proper dig.

Agree, there is hope!
I know we lost but we put up a great fight .
Let's get rid if a few errors and we are on our way.....again.:

The only thing that is a laughing stock is our own fans death riding us after keeping Melbourne to less than ten for only the 2nd time this year. They were off the pace because we FORCED them to be with muscle in defense, not because Cronk was missing.

Agreed. Cronk is just one player. I don't accept that an excuse for the Storm.

Sometimes people listen too much to the commentators. Besides, Melbourne had Billy Slater... right? He's worth 50 billion Changas.

Improved effort in defence but our options in attack are still in nowhere land...we seem to only spread the ball in attack late in the tackle count on the left or right fringes .....quite often Boyds chiming in to the backline is to shallow which leaves the centre and winger very little room to move from the sideline....unfortunately until Soward finds his feet again we are going to struggle in attack......and please could someone tell our forwards to try and run some different angles instead of running back into the same spot as the bloke before them was tackled....the days of bash and barge are long gone.
Anyway had my say, and VERY confident of beating the Warriors next week especially with the long turn around.....

Bennett appeared to be happy with what the team did last night i reckon he saw some of the play for each other coming back. We are not lost

We were missing the speed of Morris and Gaz in attack last night. We cracked them open on plenty of occasions the non pass from Goodwin to a supporting Hornby was poor, it would have been a try under the sticks.

Yep, that was one. Had me yelling at the TV. lol

Add the three wayward passes in the second half, if they were on the chest Stanley would have got over the line at least once. Oh well, 'what ifs' don't bring home the points. The great thing about the game is that we have next week to make amends.

We're not out of this yet.

Didnt really look threatening in that second half, with 20 to go i didnt think we could win. Defence was better but our attack was getting closed down so easily by melb.

Slater is still making Storm very dangerous last nighgt. It would not make a difference with Cronk on the field!

There are some issues with the hooker. We need Rein to play more, because he is excellent in attack and defence. I want Fein to be a ulity hooker for middle of the game up to 30minutes or so. I want Rein to play.

Bronx want to score from himself but his decision was poor, should have passed to Hornby. Our attack looks incredibly dangerous with Bronx on the field. I believe we still could win if Bronx stays and also Rein being on field longer. A little poor decision by the coach and trainers. The players looked lost in attack in last 20minutes, hence being absent of Bronx and Rein.

This is must learning lesson in terms of attack for next 2 weeks with Warriors and Panthers. We need Morris and Gasnier back (i'm sure they will be back). However about the hooker, I want Rein to play more time on the field. Soward need physio and take few days off training.

No problems in our defence, i'm glad Boyd is backing up after those dangerous line breaks. Few times was by Soward.

Yep this thread is all pretty spot on, our defence wasnt perfect (several line breaks), but it was much better on the defensive line, and that is 100% the key to the Dragosn game-plan.

Most of those balls that went to the left wing were srsly tough balls, Morris may have dropped them also, but we missed a dedicated winger there. And obviously no Gaz on the right side rly reduced our strike-power.

But even though Storm were by far the better team, if we had taken our chances we would have won.. were in the running.. we just need to get confidence up before the finals.

wasn't it Cooper backing up on the inside ?

Correct, it was Cooper backing up. Good showing last night. Guys looked hungry, really stood up and dominated in the opening of the match, then Rein is subbed and Melbourne gain ascendency. Rein needs more minutes, he clearly is a talent.

I think it is as simple as he is just trying too hard. If I remember correctly, he gave an interview in the paper at the beginning of last year stating that Bennet had been such a huge positive influence on him in-so-far as getting him to step back and look at the options he has , rather than rush the play. Seems that is what he is doing now. I personally feel Sowie thinks the weight of the team is on his shoulders sometimes - and he just panics.

He looks scared with the ball in hand. He should be enjoying footy instead he has put way too much expectation on himself after origin. A chat with Brian Smith might be just the thing he needs to relax
