If it is not good enough for round 26 then why is it good enough for other rounds?

Because it rates so well during the season....
& it has nothing to do with being not good enough for RD 26..it's to finalise the Rd before finals footy...
How would you like your team to play Mon Night & then back up for a final on FRI...?

The question he is asking Phil is how come the NRL have made sure that it does not clash with the finals but are quiet happy to let it f**k around with every other round during the year.
I agree with the OP, over the last couple of years a couple of teams have been f**ked hard with who their opponents have been on Monday night and then had to turn up again on Fri / Sat against another formidable opponent.

Its bullshit and needs to be scheduled, it may be good but it needs to be shared evenly amongst the teams, or as close to evenly as possible.

Wrong. No team playing Monday Night Football can then be scheduled to play on Friday night. It's the same all through the season, and that's why we don't have it in round 26.

It's pretty simple really. The order that the finals are played cannot change. 4th vs 5th is always Friday night, and so they can't have Monday Night Football because, when the round is scheduled, we don't know who will finish in those position.

Monday to Saturday schedules are crap & it stuffs up the week for teams involved. In any single round. It is only round 26 that this is recognised. "it is what foxtel wants" is the correct answer. Doesn't make it right though.

I don't expect you to understand that Baron.

As has been pointed out, no team playing Monday night backs up the next Friday during the regular season...

Obviously they cant make that guarantee when they decide the schedule 6 weeks in advance that the teams that they pick to play on the monday night wont finish 4th or 5th and have to play the next Friday.

Its not that hard to fathom is it?

Considering its Fox's best rating game by quite a distance and one of their main promoting points for the NRL.

Dont complain unless you want them to pay 50% less for our games next time around.

Ever heard of "cant have your cake and eat it too?"

Monday night football is great, I just wish it was on FTA. And a saturday game on FTA... But this is the wrong thread for that.

How is playing Monday night and then having to playing on a Saturday that much worse than having to play on a Sunday and then on a Friday?

They'll try screw the game out of every dollar they can anyway whether the game is played on a monday night or not.

As for the cake, if I paid for it I will damn well f**king eat it and if any merkin tries to stop me I'll bite their f**king arm off, particularly if its a good cheese cake, those things f**king rock, but we are getting side tracked here.

I am just not feeling it, monday night footy that is, it can be good for ratings, hell Hitler was good for the german economy for quiet a while.

^ I remember that article getting rubbished at the time here...

I think someone even pointed out that Monday night average crowds were higher than Saturday night...

There have been been some great crowds on Monday nights this year...

Monday night is the best game of the week by far. Best commentary, best footy show and usually the most intensity for some inexplicable reason.

Don't f**k with it . . . except when it's necessary this one time

I reckon they just need to commit to fixed scheduling and make sure every team gets the same amount of monday night games and that the game after is always (or almost always) a sunday game.

They never will though cause TV has the final say... not the fairness of the comp or the fans.

I also like the sunday twilight game...

Monday Night Football is great. It is pretty much the only thing that gets me through a day at work on Monday - knowing that there's still some footy to look forward to.

It's a great concept.

People who complain about it are just pathetic naysayers, there's really no reason to object.
