Even so, none of those would be as far away from a train station as what this will be.

One of the benefits to this development is that there will be a new bus route from Shark Park to Woolooware Station, which is 1km away.

Well thats got me f**ked, a development cant go ahead because its less than 1.5km away from a train station.

I have lived in high rise developments 10km away from train stations. Most people complaining about the walk, are probably fat. The excercise will do you the world of good.

I would like to know what the average age of those against the development is.

I would predict it is 55 plus. This is the same group who complain to me daily about having to travel from the shire to the city to see a medical proffessional. Surely a medical centre with pathology, imaging and some specialist suites would be beneficial to them. As it is they all come to the city for scans.
I know what I would prefer.

The younger gen, 25-40ish would probably be all for it. As Newman said he like many others is saving his ring hole out to buy in this area. I'm sure 'renters' in this bracket would be keen for 700 new properties to become available. Newer more affordable places.
At the moment anything good for the right price is out bangor, illawong way. Unless you want to do it up.

I know for a fact one of them is mid 50's.
His only argument is traffic congestion.
Wont even listen another point of view. Misquotes figures and cannot stay calm when discussing it.

its horses for courses but people opposing the development for their own greed is just poor form... once upon a time in the past im sure they were afforded an opportinuty to build or buy, why deny this opportunity for others, anybody would think the sharks are proposing strip clubs and whore houses.

and another is Kerry... she is expecting parkland when the sharks go under... i cant wait to introduce her to the distirbution manager when the massive truck depot is built after the sharks die...

Pros:
More employment
New medical facility
More affordable housing in Sydney
Stability for the Cronulla Leagues and Football Clubs
Benefit to local community groups

Cons:
More traffic on Captain Cook Dr
1km from the nearest railway station

There are more pros to this development then there are cons.

This development wont make housing more affordable in Sydney - it would take tens of thousands of vacant properties and a hike in interest rates and rises in unemployment for that to happen.

Also another con would be increases in pollution, both noise pollution and air pollution and then there's local businesses away from the centre that would suffer and parking that would be reduced.

I should think there are more pro's than you named to, if I'm being fair.
