Returning to the AMNRL as the Northern Virginia Eagles - "NOVA Eagles".
There logo (AMNRL facebook page) has it reading fairfax eagles however.
Could the AMNRL just be trying to put dots back on the map again? Or is this going to be a legit team playing in a proper comp?

Discuss ...

I want to believe it's real, but the fact that Niu has tagged all his mates in the photo isn't a good sign, and I don't really know how any new teams could justify joining the AMNRL or why they would want to. Maybe Aston Bulls will be masquerading as three teams rather than two next year. It's such a shame that Niu appears to be persisting with this.

Niu working hard to promote RL is a bad thing.
It's RL - he should be working hard to destroy all rivals and set the game back as far as he can.
Both sides should be trying to self destruct - all this working to build the game and new teams is not our way.

Like I say, if it's a real team then great, although I question why they would want to join the AMNRL considering the reports of bad treatment from the few clubs that did play in that competition last year. If it's the same blokes spreading as thinly as possible to try and pretend their competition is growing (see Delaware Vipers), then it's just a waste of time.

Wasn't this years DC Slayers made from the Eagles and Slayers of the year before? If that's the case then maybe the former Eagles just wanted to reform their team. Not much sinister about that.

And I don't know about any stories from the AMNRL but the big lead up to the WC could be a good motivator to get back into the AMNRL.

Is Danny the coach of the Slayers around?

I've heard that the old Fairfax, now NOVA Eagles, are going to give it a shot again for 2012 in the AMNRL. I believe they will be running in Manassas, VA. Not sure why they chose the AMNRL, but that is there decision. I nor the Slayers are involved with their efforts.

Some of the Eagles, including me, came over to the Slayers after the Eagles demise. We just wanted to continue playing league with a local team. The players that came over intend to stay with the Slayers.

I wish them luck as it will be difficult to start up again having taken a year off. It would be great if they would join the USARL so we can continue the local rivalry.

Not sure why they decided to join the AMNRL, the support would be better in the USARL and they would have a say in how the league is being managed. Plus with teams like the Raiders who won't travel I wonder how much competition they'll get.

After following a link from Wikipedia's USARL page I learned that both Fairfax and Pittsburgh were unable to meet certain critieria and were deemed developmental teams for the 2011 season. More than anything it was a move to allow the teams time to improve their structures both on and off the field. Would it be too much of a leap to assume the Eagles still haven't met the USARL criteria but wanted to get back on the field and the AMNRL welcomed them with open arms?

The eagles im sure will do fine with rebuilding. the sharks did it and came out with a winning season with a very young team. Adding to the "criteria" of the usarl, believe me it wasnt all rainbows and butterflies in that comp. teams struggled with numbers and there was schedule changes on the fly. Any way you slice it, until we are all back in one comp it is a sad state of afairs in the US. Ive said this many times if it were possible the sharks would play as an independent club and cross comp schedule. im sure the egos that be would never allow that though. We remain as nutral as possible because of our relationships with clubs in both comps. I will say this it hurt all of us when none of the boys got consideration for the tomahawks nor any recognition of our acheivments this season, but we wont dwell on it and we will move forward. from outside looking in i can see how you all think its black and white but i assure you theres a huge gray area with this split. with all that being said i think the eagles coming back to the amnrl is a smart move and it will be great to play those guys again.

NA guys,

opinion please - if the comps did reunite "tomorrow" would all the teams survive? or would they need to merge teams that are close together to form a stronger team?

I ask because that may be a factor that would lead to a dual conference "single comp" system rather than a reunification. Not sure anyone would be keen to be the junior partner in a combined club.

I think that this schism is something to build upon. Two conferences which each containing the teams of each league. Then you can have a couple of inter interconference fixtures. However, the numbers will need to even out. As a result, some mergers may take place. Though, yes we could have one USRL. Then, the two leagues as conferences with whatever names you want to come up with for them. I'm just trying to make the best out of this. This has happened and it will be in the history book of RL in the US. So, why not take advantage of it instead of eventually trying to hide it like a skeleton in a closet?

I personally wasn't referring to the USARL. I was referring to one general league in the US but I just put USRL for United States Rugby League not a suggestion but something off the top of my head. Wait could it be United States Rugby League League? Something for me to ponder.
